We came here to indulge in afternoon tea for my mothers 70th birthday and were blown away by the quality of the food, service and environment. Although not the cheapest afternoon tea in town the quality and amount of food was perfect and we felt thoroughly spoilt by the attentive staff.

We have eaten at the Dower House before but what makes this place so special - apart from the excellent food, great service and stunning location - is that they remember your visit. So greeted by the waiter who remembered what wine we had last time, by staff who were courteous and welcomed us back and then of course the... More

Our first time here, but we will be back. We couldn't fault anything, the staff, the service, the ambience. As for the food- we couldn't understand why it hasn't yet got Michelin stars- certainly the best meal we've had anywhere for years

so much history and you need to visit Number 1 which is open to the public and the tour guides provide all the background to the house and the crescent.

I have stayed in The Hotel in the past, so it was good to revisit at The Dower House for afternoon tea. It was certainly the best one we've had and a joy to be sitting at a table with a lovely view of the garden. Although it must be one of the grandest settings around, the atmosphere was delightfully... More

We were taken out to afternoon tea here by our son and daughter in law and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I needed gluten free food and our son and daughter in law requested vegetarian: both requirements were met without any difficulty. It was such a treat for me to have a lovely selection of sandwiches and delicious cakes to enjoy.... More

We had afternoon tea here and frankly it was amazing. The service was excellent with a careful explanation of everything and suitable recommendations. We had the vegetarian selection and the savoury selection was incredible, especially the spiced ginger and pear crumble. The sandwiches were very good, with a nice mixture. For sweet things the Bath bun with cinnamon butter was... More

Having eaten at Johann Lafer yesterday and given full marks I must say this restaurant has to go to 11. Perfect in every way, a wonderful occasion.

If you have a couple of hours to spend, and an open mind to new as well as classic versions of locally inspired dishes, this hotel resuaurant is well worth a visit. The staff are young but enthusiastic, and they know instinctively that theirs is one of the best foodie destinations in the historic city of Bath, No pretension, just... More

Description
The Dower House restaurant at The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath –if an English hotel and restaurant have a more perfect setting, we don’t know of it. The frontage of the Royal Crescent is a masterpiece of Georgian architecture and the gardens, where The Dower House restaurant is set are leafy, secluded and lovely. Newly refurbished, The Dower House now features an elegant dining room and a super cool bar as well as a sunny terrace and manicured lawns for romantic al fresco dining. Head Chefs Gordon Jones and Mark Brega have created a modern British menu inflected with Asian and Mediterranean influences. Our pick? The French quail tart with creamed leeks and braised Puy lentils with Pommery mustard thyme sauce.
