This was our first visit to the Gascoyne and it was a disappointing experience. There were eight of us and we had pre-booked. We were shown to a table in the 'basement' which was a low ceiling, drab and unwelcoming area, with as many tables squeezed in as they could possibly manage. The dining area was not conducive to a... Quite a nice pub/restaurant for decor, choice of beer and friendly staff, but the nut roast was one of the most bizarre pieces of food I've ever encountered. Instead of a normal nut roast texture it consisted of two small balls of smooth, sticky green stuff that may or may not have contained nuts and was pretty flavourless.

Touted as one of the best Sunday lunches in Bath I had high hopes. Unfortunately I was disappointed. As a vegetarian, Sunday lunches are always a bit hit and miss but I really thought that this place could have done better. The nut roast type thing had a gluey and unpleasant texture. Also the vegetarian gravy resembled wall paper paste... More

Great ruby roast beef, good service. I would recommend booking the mezzanine for a quieter lunch. Great service. Exspecially enjoyed the deconstructed lemon cheese cake! Great choice at the bar an friendly barman

I recently visited Gascoyne Place with family and was really impressed with its central location and that they could seat us at short notice on a Saturday night. The service was really excellent and friendly as well. Our food was brought to us in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. I'm a vegetarian and I was really happy with... More

Some of the best food I have ever tasted. We got to bath quite late, and we're looking for somewhere to eat. We came across here and thought we try it. The food was amazing!!! The sharing meat platter was plenty for three, would be perfect for four! We all ordered the white fish for main and it was to... More

Burger was fine, drinks fine, salmon niscoise was bland, I added salt and pepper which I had to ask for and also a squeeze of lemon from my drink! The caper vinegarette was tasteless and oily. The salmon too dry. Really bizzare for £12.50. The staff were running about in a hectic fashion - but friendly. Shame as I've been... More

Set meal was £19 for 3 courses, drinks/cocktails about £7-9.50 Pretentious descriptions of very average food. "Deconstructed" cheesecake on the menu turned out to be anaemic foam, cheesecake cream and a few crumbs that would have been a whole lot better if constructed. It was cooking worthy of someone knocked out in the first qualifying round of Masterchef.

Disclaimer: we have eaten here a couple of times before previously as a couple and it's been fantastic. We had a group of 14 of us, even though we pre ordered the service was a bit slow. Requests for items such as salad dressings went without answer until chased many times. Even charged £18 for table bread when requested. The... More
