The Marlborough Tavern has raised it's game for 2017. Have not been there for dinner for a while and found the food really good. As you look at the menu it seems a shade dear for a pub , but when it arrives you realise it is excellent value and portion size is good. Apart from standard menu there are... More

Not really a tavern. A good restaurant that sells good beer - what's not to like? There was consciously-labelled 'pub food' on the menu and it looked good going past but we went for the genuine-restaurant-stuff and it was truly superb. The only problem with an eating establishment that sells good beer is that by the time you get to... More

Spent a relaxing sunny Saturday afternoon here drinking cider. Nice courtyard beer garden. Didn't have food but everyone else's looked great.

We were in Bath for a couple of days and I booked a table at this venue. The place is very nice, simple and cosy. We ordered a chicken roast and a vegetarian roast (yes, there is a choice also for veggie lovers!!) and they both came with roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, all very tasty! The vegetarian one... More

As my son has been a Vegan for over a year now, we are obliged to eat in places which offer "Vegan Options". The staff at the Marlborough neither know nor apparently care, what this entails. Offering "soup & a salad" once the guests are seated, is a cheat. I asked on the phone when booking, and the staff member... More

What a find! We had a fantastic meal- salmon nigiri & a fish cake which was one of the best plates of food I've had - followed by delicious lamb. I stole one of mums chips when she wasn't looking & they were twice cooked fluffy crispy heaven. The atmosphere was buzzy & friendly & the staff were tip top.... More

As locals, we have eaten here often. It used to be good. What has happened? We had a disappointing lunch on Easter Saturday for a family reunion. The food and service were mediocre - the vegetarian curry was undercooked, I thought it had nuts in but they were crunchy chickpeas. I couldn't eat it. Fish and chips were ok by... More

Needed a drink and something to eat quick so popped in and had a very enjoyable meal. Looks like the side garden is being refurbished so now looking forward to the sunnier evenings.

I went back, following their response to my last review, in which they stated their menu didn't contain anything "pan-fried", and was devoid of anything on an "assiette". So I was disappointed to find that their menu did contain a "pan-fried fillet of hake" with various trimmings, and indeed, an "assiette of mushrooms". So maybe I didn't confuse it with... More

Description
Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the quality of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, a horde of local & national awards plus inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to their consistent delivery of high quality cooking. They have a clear approach to food find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Married to that is a passion for inventiveness that sees the menu constantly changing. Food is essentially though not slavishly English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. The lunchtime menu features a range of lighter dishes and sharing plates plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary. Their food reputation is matched by their service always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Baths finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, its perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.
