I've been a regular here since it opened and I'm amazed how they manage to turn out food to the same high standard, fast food joints seem to be taking over but for high quality freshly prepared food and fantastic, friendly service this place takes the biscuit, if you don't believe me of for yourself.

we started with off the menu olives and bread, as we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive,,, really kind of the busy kitchen to get us them, They had also bought in a ribeye steak for 'the birthday person' as I had rung and ordered it...again , nothing was too much trouble. The main courses of... More

Went with friends. A good selection of drinks in a wood lined bar / restaurant. Not an extensive menu but a good variety with some more unusual offerings. All of the starters, mains and deserts were excellent. Not the cheapest place to eat but worth the little extra for the quality. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Super meal, beautifully presented, very hot - and everyone of the 45 of us in the group said what a wonderful meal it was. Just what an organiser needs to hear. Couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and professional - and what food! Thank you.

Went here once for sunday lunch and enjoyed it so went for lunch today. What terribly rude staff! The lunch time menu consisted of only 4 main courses which just isnt enough choice for anyone really. The magners cider didnt taste very good and I mentioned to the bar maid that it was possible the pipes needed cleaning. She was... More

We went to the Arms for a late/early Mother/Fathers' Day today. We were greeted straight away and shown to our table. We were only waiting a couple of minutes for the menu and were served with drinks after only a short while. The service was quick between ordering and finishing our meals. I was delighted to see that they have... More

Popped in here for a quick bite of lunch while passing through. The service was rushed and we had to wait a good few minutes before being served at the bar. When our food came it was hot and tasty but at nearly £30 for 2 baguettes with chips and a couple of drinks, you can get the same quality... More

Firstly may I say most of the food was excellent. Delicious but small starters, excellent lamb and beef mains, the panne cotta desert was not great, its tasted like they forgot to sweeten it so we left most of it. The reason for the 2 stars was for the slow service for the desert course. We waited an hour from... More

Very popular location with good Sunday lunch. We dropped on chance knowing it would be busy. The staff were very helpful and found a cosy alcove ideal for the 4 of us. Fair portions although the veggie option looked a bit light compared to the roast. 3 real ales on offer and in the interests of research we tried them... More

This is a quaint pub, a bit on the small side. The food was very good and the choice of real ales is excellent

The Wortley Arms was originally built as a coach house in 1753 at a cost of 188 pounds and 66 shillings! After an extensive renovation period we reopened our doors in November 2006.You will find we have retained many of the features that have given this historical building its renowned character including its revolving doors and the solid oak beams. Customers can enjoy themselves in our warm welcoming environment in front of our wood fire, whilst enjoying a locally brewed ale or some excellent fresh food like our famous Wortley Pie.The Montagu Rooms occupy the upper floor. Here we can accommodate private functions for all purposes. You can hire part or the whole of the top floor for exclusive private dining, for seated parties of up to 50 or buffet style catering for larger gatherings. Alternatively you can reserve the entire venue including the facilities of the Wortley Arms.Food for both the Wortley Arms and the Montagu Rooms is prepared under the direction of Master Chef of Great Britain Andy Gabbitas. Andy uses recipes that he has collected in the course of his experience as private chef to well known celebrities and on his world travels to produce a cuisine at its most pure, simple and seasonal.
