Popped in when passing for mid morning coffee and cake. The choice of coffee is large and comes in a cafetiere which gives about three cups. The cakes are exquisite (okay and six pounds a pop) and delicious. While it cost nearly £10 a head for coffee and cake, I have to say it was worth it for the quality.... More

You know it's not going to be cheap when you come to the Grand Cafe, purporting as the first coffee house in England. Well perhaps not quite as advertised but a really nice place to have a lunch, breakfast or tea. All the food looks very well prepared and made, staff are friendly and efficient. Busy times you will have... More

Because we're history buffs, we thought it might be fun to have high tea in The Grand Cafe, which says it's the oldest coffee house in England, but in small print says it's actually the site of the oldest coffee house in England, according to Pepys Diary. I had high tea, my husband a cream tea (with coffee). I got... More

We decided to have our Saturday breakfast in a cafe. This was a really gorgeous location, the high ceilings, big mirror, friendly professional staff. We had smoked salmon on a bagel with soft cheese and also scrambled egg with a croissant. delicious.

Really friendly and cozy place. Can get really busy, but is worth the waiting. The staff are lovely and attention. High Tea really good with massive portions. I totally recommend!

Claiming to be the oldest Coffee House in the World, or in Oxford at least, or possibly just in the High Street, the Grand Cafe evokes a bygone era, certainly Fin de Siecle, if not before, with its fine columns and mirrors and is the ideal place for a coffee, afternoon tea or in our case, breakfast. We quickly knew... More

We stopped into this beautiful restaurant for a weekend brunch and were greeted by friendly staff, good coffee and lovely food. We had a range of sweet and savoury dishes all of which were very good and the staff were very happy to make any changes for us. The prices seemed reasonable and we all had a lovely time.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and everywhere we walked past was packed except this place. This should have been a red flag. But we decided to go in. The food was overpriced even for a major city. For example beans on toast £4.95. We had a sandwich and a cheese ploughman's with a pot of tea, Diet Coke... More
