I've only ever been to this Maxwell's for food once, and it was okay. Nothing really memorable or to write home about where food is concerned. However, Maxwell's as a bar was one of my favourite places to visit in Oxford. Casual ambiance, eclectic music...More
Visiting Oxford for a couple of days we decided to visit Maxwells having had a great meal there in London last year. What a difference. In need of major TLC. Dirty in general. Sat in a booth. All tables looked shabby, in need of a...More
I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich and the double beef burger with bacon (not at once). Both were okay. It's not cheap and it's not delicious, but if you're there for a night of dancing and need something heavy in your belly, it's good...More

Maxwells is an American style burger diner that does 'friendly, tasty and good value', not 'posh and haute cuisine'. The place is just as it was in 1981, thank goodness, with staff that are just as nice. Long may this continue.
