The food was nice, priced about £9. Very filling. The vegetables were nicely done too. However, the toilets were in a disgusting state, poorly maintained.

My husband and I ate in the Eagle on our first night in Oxford. Good plain food at reasonable prices. The only drawback for us was that, as my husband needs a walker to get around, there's not a lot of room to get through,...More
I can't comment on the food as I didn't order any, but I loved the cosy interior of this place with its little snugs and nooks and crannies, and loved whichever rich and fruity pint of ale I had. This was just right for a...More
Don't eat here its really bad. I love Tolkien C.S.Lewis and they used to meet here and read aloud have a drink here so you can say you have been here but don't eat anything. The service is zero to.

Outstanding food and company. Went a number of times and tried different menu items. Always seem to be able to find people to chat with. Very sociable. Lewis and Carrol were regular visitors during their time and there are still many reminders of their times...More
My husband and I chose this venue based on the wide choice on the menu. However upon arrival we were somewhat taken aback by the rather off handed welcome. We sat at a table in the conservatory which was very cold.we both chose a pie...More
A beautiful pub where C.S.Lewis used to go for a pinte. A nice atmosphere and a warm welcome are a plus. This pub is unmissable in the heart of Oxford. Good choice of ales. It's definitly a pub crawling spot.
Cons: Historic Bespoke Good drinks selection Tastefully extended Cons: A bit dated Slow service Expensive My wife and I took her parents here for a drink as we waited for her sister and her family to join us. It was very "oxford", and I'm sure...More
