Went in on the offchance as we were passing. Said they could accommodate us even though it was a Saturday night "squeeze us in". This was a bit strange as we were put behind the main pub in an almost back room with a billiard table which was completely empty bar us? So my comment below that it was lacking... More

Burford is just loverly, free parking and a delightful High Street. If you go the the Royal Oak you must book. The pub is dog friendly with a sensible stone floor. The owners are very welcoming, the menue is just right, simple very well done English food. We went on a Sunday and the place was packed, very friendly locals.... More

Glad we booked our table here. Food was great, beer was good and staff were lovely. Had the roast beef and Yorkshire puds. Lovely sticky toffee pudding. Would visit again if in Burford

I'm pretty sure this place came up when I was researching the Cotswolds.... so as we passed by we pretty much jumping from a moving car in order to grab a late lunch and have to say we were so glad we did.....and the staff let us...as it was just past 3pm....and the kitchen was closing down. The barman and... More

On our way to Ross on Wye we thought we would stop for some lunch. After looking at Trip Advisor we came across this lovely pub. We opted for the homemade pies and decided to order one chicken and one beef. Both were cooked to perfection and accompanied with fresh vegetables. A mature waitress had let them down on one... Late booking got us the worst table in the pub next to the pool table where I had the misfortune to be hit in the back with a cue while eating ,I wasn't very pleased! The food is ok but over priced. We had a vegetarian chilli, sausage and mash and scamp followed by Apple pie and an ice cream... More

Visited the Royal Oak for a family lunch. Didn't disappoint; the usual very varied menu with wide selection of dishes, fresh salad and all at a reasonable price. Staff very attentive and very good value for money.
