we were on a walk with my daughter and her partner and knew this pub was mid way round the walk, we arrived around 1.30pm and hadn't booked a table, it was really busy but the landlord found us a table and was very helpful, we all ordered the steak pie, which even though it was busy didn't take too... Four of us stayed at The Ramblers Rest for two nights and had dinner both nights at this friendly and welcoming pub. The landlord makes a point of talking to new and familiar faces alike and it almost feels like you're being asked to feel at home in his own living room. The food is superb....amazing steak pie! Everything ordered... More

What an absolutely unchanged and perfectly hosted pub and restaurant. It lives by the sheer quality of the cooking and the most welcoming nature of me in host and his local friends who eat and drink there regularly. So many great family photos to judge the 19th century farming methods and the family pictures to make you interested in the history... More

family party of 18 for Boxing Day lunch. Pub was packed but food all served at same time for this large group. Nothing fancy but large portions of good English food well cooked. Worth seeking out this rural pub

Moved to the area about a year ago, this is now our favourite pub. The landlord is so welcoming, we get the steak pie every time, its the best pie we have ever had. The Yorkshire puddings are also amazing, the landlady is an amazing cook. Had the banoffee pie tonight for a change and again, absolutely mouth watering!!

An old building which is showing its age, although that is part of the charm. Excellent home cooked food in generous quantities with good beer, (and other drinks). Usually quite busy which adds to the atmosphere. On this occasion went as part of a walking group of about 20 people, pre-ordering before setting off. Despite the numbers the quality was... More

Lovely warm welcome , fire lit. Jolly , relaxed feel . Oldy Worldy pub feel . Fast and friendly service . Excellent home cooked food. Plenty of vegetarian options . We felt comfortable to relax and chat , no pressure to move on . There is a pub car park at the rear, which was unfortunately full - but plenty... More
