Went here for afternoon coffee on a first date, my companion was blown away by the surroundings. Lovely atmosphere and my rose petal tea was delicious! Its a hidden gem.

Beautiful Hotel. I've walked past it along the walls countless times and didn't realise it was a hotel/restaurant. Service was excellent but I was disappointed with the afternoon tea. It seemed a bit frugal - 3 finger sandwiches, rather ordinary small cakes, and dry small scones with tired cream. Really lovely pannacotta, and plenty of hot tea however - and... More

We have had THE most tasteless coffee ever ! Even after asking to have a new pot made. The staff were lovely along with the food . What a shame - so looking forward to visiting the hotel. Very disappointed.

Came here for dinner with business friends for the third time. As usually we were served high quality food. The new pulled lamb roll was delicious!

I visited Grays Court a while back and first impressions where of a lovely historic building with period features. The staff on reception greeted me and where very helpful in directing me to the bar and dining area. I walked into what I believe they called the gallery, a long wood covered room with a lovely little window seat area... More

If you are walking the walls then plan your trip to stop here for coffee or afternoon tea. Worth the stop just to se the building.

We come to York for a few days every year as we really like the city and can tie it in with a business trip. We saw Grays Court from the wall when walking near York Minster, thought it looked lovely and twice in one week were tempted down. On the first occasion we were looking for 2 coffees and... More

I'm very sorry to read this, and disappointed that you felt the service was not up to scratch. With regards to the shortbread biscuits, these are all made fresh in our kitchen as I'm sure you realised when they came out, so I must admit that I don't see this as a negative - quite the opposite. I do however... More
