Atmospheric small pub with restaurant seating at the rear. Lovely ambience and excellent food. The prawns to start were very fresh and cooked to perfection as was the brill fillet. 5 of us all had fabulous meals of a very high standard. Great friendly service. Good wine list and the waitress was really helpful in suggesting recommendations when we weren't... More

A little gem which I can highly recommend to you. The quality of the food is superb and the restaurant is intimate without the awkwardness. I really enjoying eating here. Yum!

We sat in the lounge upstairs which is dog friendly. Had a couple of drinks sat on the sofas then moved to a table to eat. Can recommend Damn Shame a prosecco and gin cocktail with blueberries. The food is very good, my husband had steak and chips and I had salmon with hollandaise. All beautifully presented with all the... More

Stayed for a couple of nights with work. And I'll not hesitate to return for a relaxing family break . Fantastic rooms - modern bathrooms. Fantastic food in restaurant - credit to chef and his team 👍. Great historical old coaching house with loads of character. Cheap overnight parking only 100m away.

This was a lovely place to have a meal. The building is 17th century and has loads of lovely features, the staff were welcoming and the food was fabulous. we were served quickly and our starters of pig's head with rhubarb and duck egg with pickled mushroom were really well balanced, and the mains of herb crusted rump of lamb... Somebody in this kitchen should step away from the salt pot... When I worked in a bar in the 1970s we encouraged drinkers to buy more beer by providing salty snacks, for free. Everyone smoked, had dull tastebuds , and it worked. Today a pub must serve good food to survive; the starter of baked camambert with a stunningly good... More

Recommended this place for an evening meal. Called in during the day to make reservation and check vegetarian options. Staff friendly and helpful - checked the specials for the evening. Surf (lobster) and turf (sirloin) was well cooked. Mushroom tagilatelli with duck egg also good. If anything, both a little over priced.

Excellent food. Service a little slow though, 45 min wait after we ordered and no updates on when the food would be ready.

Only called in for drinks over the first weekend of February but loved the atmosphere. Service was pleasant; wine was decent and the real ale on draught was also a good pint. The aroma's coming from the restaurant were tempting but we had already booked elsewhere!! If the pub service was replicated in the restaurant then I am sure it... More
