Always visit here when in Whitby. Why pay fancy prices this is the best. Service, food, cleanliness are second to none.

We often eat at the Royal. The fish is always lovely and fresh with a crispy, light batter. We also had chips and curry sauce which was nice and fruity.

I've been getting fish and chips from here since a child! Before I truly appreciated the taste of fish and still to this day I find myself magnetised to this fish and chip shop whether I'm there for the day or staying for the weekend. I've converted to my boyfriend as a fan who also thinks it's Whitby's best fish... More

Great value, plenty to choose from, freshly cooked, red hot, clean and great service.what more could anybody need. The fish was beautifully white and the batter hot and crunchy. Delicious.

We live only half an hour from Whitby and go there regularly. We've just been today and being a bank holiday it was incredibly busy. There were long queues at all the fish and chip restaurants and to be honest we were a bit worried that there was no queue at Royal Fisheries. We had not eaten there before, but... More

Forget the Magpie and their long queues - go to the Royal - fabulous fish n chips every time. Lovely restaurant, super fast service and perfect every time.

Our first visit for a very long time & we decided to try this local restaurant also for the first time. A good find indeed! Prompt & polite service with a very well priced menu & fresh fish. All in all it was a very enjoyable meal & with an attentive staff member at front-of-house who was cheerful & coped... More

I was visiting Whitby to watch Whitby town FC as my son was officiating. I decided to have a wander prior to the game. It was windy and bitter cold typical November really. I had walked quite a way and was ready for something to eat. Well, I have to say, I chose the right place! I was greeted immediately... More

Second visit to Whitby this year and it had to be a fish and chips meal at the Royal, by far the best in Whitby in my opinion and they didn't disappoint as usual 👍.

I've been to Whitby a few times in the last few years, but my wife had never been. As part of a two day trip, having eaten at the take away part of the Royal Fisheries on each visit, I decided we should go here for a sit down meal. It isn't exactly cheap, but to expected, partly due to... More
