Went here as part of a group for wine tasting and it was just simply amazing! The owner knew a member of our party so we got special treatment and it was just superb. The menu is varied and we sampled a number of South African dishes like Biltong and Karoo Lamb with the owner explaining that he had to... More

We were booked to see the LSO at the Barbican and selected Vivat Bacchus for pre concert long lunch. We arrived an hour earlier than we had booked but the staff found us a table and immediately furnished us with gin and tonics and various menus. We stuck to South African wines and were impressed with the Sauvignon Blanc,, Chardonnay... More

Visited the Farringdon branch having been many times to London Bridge and was not disappointed. If you love steak and red wine then you won't be disappointed. Save space for the cheese as it's not many places that have a dedicated cheese room. Staff are very attentive without being overbearing.

Met friends for an early dinner at the farringdon restaurant. Food was great, brilliant wine selection, even had organic wine which is unusual. Nit cheap but for London reasonably priced as well.

Went for a quick business lunch. I had the Ostrich steak which was one of the best steaks ive had in years. Service also very good. It was a little noisy but otherwise great.

We visited here for lunch and enjoyed a two course lunch with a wine flight. The staff were attentive and helpful. The waiter who described the different wines was excellent. We enjoyed a sharer plate for starters which was very tasty and came with gluten free crackers for me. This was followed by a steak which was perfectly seasoned and... More

Went here for lunch with a work colleague - had the swordfish and trout and a bottle of Wolftrap. A little expensive and couldn't do it every day but very, very nice as a treat. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Visited befoe and the steaks are to die for too. Have booked for our Xmas lunch... More

We were lucky enough to stumble upon this fabulous restaurant when looking for somewhere to eat in Farringdon. The staff were really professional, attentive and friendly, they made the experience really special. On arrival there was live music which was a lovely addition. The food was really good, plenty of healthy options as well as some interesting meat choices including... More

If you like good solid food and great South African wine this is the place to come. Food is well prepared, generous and very good. Wine list is mostly from SA and there are some gems. If you cannot find what you want ask to visit the cellar! Take advice from the staff as they do know what they are... More

Good selection of cheese and wine. We were able to get a table for a party of 10 on short notice. Had the special melting chocolate ball for desert. While I thought it was a great idea, it didn't work because they didn't warm up the milk enough to actually melt the chocolate.

If you love fine wine and fine food - in that order - then you should run and not walk to Vivat Bacchus right this minute. Dedicated to the god of wine, Vivat Bacchus is not only a place for fine dining. It has a passionate dedication to the best of the grape. You will be invited to visit the three wine cellars, one each for red, white, and champagne, to choose bottles to complement your food. Take your time - they hold around 6000 bottles with 250 different labels. Later you might like to visit the cheese cellar to choose among eighty local and imported cheeses to savour at the end of your meal. Oh! The meal! Right. The Head Chef is Robert Staegemann, formerly of Launceston Place Restaurant, who offers a menu that's a scrumptious amalgam of classic French and dishes influenced by cooking cultures from all over the world. Choose starter of cured foie gras with plum chutney and toast, main course of roast breast of guinea fowl with papardelle pasta, crispy pancetta and red wine glaze, and pud of banana creme brulee, or just the aforementioned cheeses with port. The ambience is smart and sophisticated with decor that will pleasantly remind you of wine cellars decorated with labels and labelled bin ends.
