Just returned from a great meal at Alounak Westbourne Grove. Good seating at the back of the restaurant by the aquarium. Delicious food and big portions with excellent and pleasant service. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant but can get very busy for a small place

I'm new to Persian food, so Alounak was my introduction and I am glad I was able to experience it here. As we do in most middle eastern/ Mediterranean/ Mezze places we ordered the mixed starters (which are all dips) accompanied with their flatbread (so thin but spans out a lot) very tasty I preferred the hummus more so than... I met with a friend here for dinner who recommended this as one of his favourite restaurants. It isn’t very big so booking ahead in advance is recommend, but it does have a nice cosy intimate setup. I went for the adanaa kebab which was served with rice, and was delicious. It was full of flavour, the right size and... More

Best Persian food in London. Grate Kababs and wonderful salads. Very reasonably priced with top notch service. A must stop for rice lovers!

I love Persian food and have thought about going to Alounak for sometime. Unfortunately if you don't get your act together and book it is almost impossible to get in. So we finally tried and it was ok. There was nothing bad about the place, the service was very good it just wasn't exceptional as I was expecting and there... More

First time here for a long while and on the recommendation of a friend whom we had arranged to meet at the restaurant. We got a table for 4 (for 3 people) and waited as the friend was 10 minutes late due to traffic. Even at 6.45 there was some pressure on tables, as we were asked several times in... More

This is the first Persian restaurant I ever visited, which was sometime back in the 90s and I've always enjoyed the food here. I would say however, that portions appear to have shrunk over the years. I remember the days when the mounds of delicious rice served with the kebabs were enough to feed two! The kebab koubideh is very... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
