Dropped in for a lite bite to eat and a spot of people watching. Seated outside in the sun, was nice to kill a few hours and soak up the atmosphere. The food was reasonable although the service was a little slow on this occasion. Notwithstanding, I've always enjoyed and will be back next time I am in London.

They've had a revamp and moved tables around so not so many booths but the service and atmosphere still buzzing from early. This time we enjoyed porridge and the breakfast burrito, as well as good strong coffee and service with a smile. We always seem to spend more money than expected so still an occasional treat.

It was an after event celebration and on recommendation of one of our friends we landed at Balans ( we had already made reservations ) on the first sight the place looks a little overcrowded and a bit worn out. I was a bit apprehensive , we were escorted to our table which had a setting which one would expect... More

I've been here about a million times. Just for drinks, for some nibbles, for dinner and for breakfast after a rough night out. My review is going to be sweet and sharp. I loved it every single time.

We had a lovely light dinner at the Kensington restaurant the other night. Excellent martini to start, nice selection of wines by the glass too. My partner ordered the curry and I ordered a melange of the side vegetable plates along with a plate of rice. No fuss about my unorthodox meal ensemble. Service was cheerful and superb. I noticed... Description
Not for the fainthearted, Balans Soho Society is a place to indulge. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and after-dark activities in the company of fellow bon vivants. It's a café, a restaurant, a bar, a member's establishment and definitely a place where rules are made to be broken. And it's all done in the spirit of Soho - the iconic corner of London that has always acted as a refuge for outsiders: minorities, eccentrics, bohemians, dreamers...people drawn together by a shared conviction that normal rules don't apply to them. A place to go when you feel like doing things you probably shouldn't. We are Balans Soho Society and we live by the philosophy that too much of a good thing is a GOOD THING, the best plan is NO PLAN and that the pursuit of pleasure is a noble one. Even if the pleasure itself might not be. Let us banish the jobsworth, the wet blanket, the killjoy. Those who are easily shocked should be shocked more often. LET CURTAINS TWITCH. All hail the rogue, the rascal and the reprobate. We have a way of dealing with outsiders: INVITE THEM IN for a drink.

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
