Everything about this place is awesome. Huge menu, moderately priced and a venue with huge character. There's a huge amount of tables outside, which are laid out to give you privacy/intimacy if needed, with patio heaters. The cave theme is very authentic, and gently lit. It makes for a great atmosphere. The place was packed but I was served immediately.... More

Come on downstairs, bend over and work your way to the back for a table at the end of the cave. Go see our friend at the wine counter, tell them what you like in a wine and let them pick. Tip them well and your next glass will be even better! Have a platter of food. Ask for help... More

Just loved this place. Hidden under caves near a the Embankment tube station. Candle lit, buzzing and heaven for wine and cheese fans. You can sniff this place out from the road the combo of wine and cheese is so good! My first visit and will be back. Just loved it here & recommend it. It is busy and hot... More

This was our last stop on our food tour in Soho. Great atmosphere and we were able to bring our own dessert to pair with the wine.

If you want city slickers..Friday and Saturday from 4pmish it then your style..bar barrel tables..add to the atmosphere long narrow outside pavement with tables chairs heaters for chilly days...old tunnel has housed coves indoors as well as wine bar and anti pasta...really simple rustic and stylish...a real buzz..once counted 200 passers I a space of two hours..

Second visit to Gordon's. Unique underground bar with a great atmosphere and a wine list to match. Pair up with the selection of cheeses and platters. Start drinking early because the tables fill up very quickly!

What a great atmosphere in this candlelit cave. Went there for lunch and some wine and really enjoyed it. Very tasty quiches and they tell you what wine goes with it. Also not too expensive. Certainly will be back.

We've been here for drinks and had a really nice time. We tried to sit inside which is a bit cavelike but it was packed (on a Sunday night) so sat outside instead which was very pleasant - there's lots of searing outside with outdoor heaters. It's a little bit out of the way (not somewhere you'd really stumble across... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
