We went to Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street to meet some old friends on Wednesday evening. It was a great place to meet up and the food was undeniable good. But……..we made the mistake of ordering the Menu Gourmand. Out of the four dishes, three of them were creamy and over rich. The first course was a delicious... More

Well located for lunch after a morning spent on Marylebone High Street. An oasis of calm off busy Baker Street, with friendly service and lovely food at a great price-the set menu is only £15.50 for 3 courses.

The Galvin chain just seems to get things right. This is an unpretentious eatery with delicious food and charming staff. I would eat here every night if I could. There are no gimmicks, just fine fare and a feeling of being looked after and pampered just a little... This is great for friends or a date, and the food is... More

I went to Bistrot de Luxe with friends and had a wonderful dinner, excellect service and the food to die for. I ordered the escargot to start, which i must say were DIVINE, and topped it off with a steak tartar, fries on the side of course and it was lovely. Looking forward to my next visit, highly recommended.

Visited Bistrot again for the fixed price menu, we were celebrating my daughter and wife's birthday and wanted to be assured of great food and service. As usual Galvin didn't disappoint, all the staff were friendly and accommodating, food and wines were absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for a lovely afternoon. The restaurant was busy and lively, good to... More

This was an excellent value fixed menu, You need to book online or tell them you want this before you arrive otherwise you have to go for the other menu options. There is a wine option to go with the courses for £19 which made this lunch delicious. The service was superb. portions are small but we enjoy to eat... More

Recently had reservation here and turned up to find it shut down by order of health safety people, notice on door saying there was a problem with mice. Girl on door said they'd tried to contact my mobile but number didn't exist and that there was a problem in the kitchen so somewhat stranded at 8 pm on a wet... More

Mostly first rate food, some portions not so large, and a good house red. Very noisy in mid evening, difficult to converse without shouting over some other tables. Service strange. Initially too much attention, waiters not giving time for diners to talk before choosing. An air of over-zealous; felt as though all were trainees out to do their best. Needs... More

The original restaurant to be opened by the Galvin brothers, the Bistrot was an overnight success with food critics and customers alike. Bistrot de Luxe has won several prestigious awards, amongst them Best French Restaurant for 2 years running, as well as top awards from the AA and Tatler Magazine. With their Michelin-starred backgrounds, Chris and Jeff Galvin bring top quality French cuisine at affordable prices, with their flair for sourcing the best seasonal ingredients, and over 30 years of culinary experience between them. Today, the bistrot still retains much of its original ethos. Chef Patron, Chris Galvin, together with Head Chef, Luigi Vespero, offer a seasonally-inspired French menu, comprising many bistrot classics. Few restaurants in London have managed to emulate the success of this timeless classic.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
