Called in on the 1st of dec for a breakfast before going to a matinee performance , the food was really good , quality bacon and sausage and really good portion size , just the thing to set you up for the day .coming from Yorkshire we always moan about the London prices for food ,but I have to say... On exiting Covent garden station, my wife and I were overwhelmed by the choice of eating establishments. What one to choose for a pre-theatre meal ? The White lion "jumped out" at us, with it boasting a roast dinner with home made roast potatoes. Sorted ! We opted for upstairs and we where impressed, very cosy and quiet. Peroni on... More

I loved my scampi and chips. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot...it was the best scampi I had ever tasted and the triple fried chips were perfect...will definitely go here again!

The worst meal we have ever had. The restaurant was quiet, only one other table with a party of eight, who seemed to have a similar experience to us. Things started well, the friendly and cheery waitress took our orders and served our drinks. We were going on to a concert and thought 90 mins would be sufficient time, however... More

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience in The White Lion. This is certainly not our usual standards. I'm glad the waitresses tried to do everything they could for you. But this is still not an acceptable standard of food to be served. Could you contact me directly at the pub to discuss this further? Thank You. More

Excellent location, great ambiance, good range of pouring beers and malt whiskies. Try their food at their upstairs diner.

This is my favourite pub in Covent Garden. It's got real character, a good selection of beers and it's close to all the action. I've always had a friendly welcome here and highly recommend it.

Downstairs is a traditional London pub with a good range of beers set in the heart of Covent Garden; the clientele were a mix of locals meeting post work and tourists. Is it churlish to complain that foreigners who drop in on off chance take twice as long to serve and assume it is acceptable to block tables as they... More

Late lunch after football we found this pub next to U and we were not disappointed. We ordered both fish & Chips and it was served relatively short after. The fish was fresh, nicely bartered and well prepared. Price relatively high but also in center of London, so compared with quality it's ok.

We visited the pub near Covent garden. The mixed platter of beef sausage gammon steak eggs with chips was tough despite we ask for medium rare. It reminds us of Jack's place in Singapore. The lamb was sweet with honey and minty usually should be savory. The English ales were light. The owner and servers were welcoming and courteous.

Many historic and popular pubs serve good ale, and most serve decent pub food. What sets White Lion above many is their extensive menu. We sat in the upstairs dining room and had a very pleasant server and our food was better than we expected for a pub. My husband had honey glazed ham hock with mashed potatoes and kale... More
