A surprisingly pleasant lunch with some good service and some not so good but incredible value for money.

The food we ordered was nice and well portioned. However, we were given a 4 seater table for 5 people with no effort made to accommodate us. The service was slow and unpleasant.

We stopped in because the friends I was traveling with wanted to experience an afternoon tea. We found Richoux's on the internet and thought we would give it a try. There were some children with us and they were able to find items they liked on the menu. Richox offers a few pound discount on afternoon tea for a couple,... More

In a previous review, I noted that I nearly always visit one location of this small chain of cafes whenever I am in London, that the service varies (and is often not good), and that the fish pie is wonderful. Tonight, after trying several other places on a Wednesday night and finding 45 minute wait times, I brought my friend... More

Perhaps we hit this place on a bad night. The staff were all over the place with no co-ordination, no focus and apparently nobody in charge. Long waits; little courtesy. The food when it arrived (ravioli), sadly compressed and evidently not freshly cooked.. Not what you expect from (a not inexpensive) West End restaurant.

A friend and I went here for tea after visiting the Royal Academy. We were seated quite quickly at a table next to the cake display, then ignored. 3 people said they would be with us in a minute. Eventually our order was taken. The scones arrived, warm after about 10 minutes but we waited another 10 minutes for the... More

The staff were friendly and easily found me a table during the busy lunch rush. There was a lot on the menu that I was willing to eat but I decided on the Pollo Penne in tomato sauce. It was very served quickly and was very hot. The sauce delicious and there was plenty of chicken which was nice. The... More

Was wandering around Picadilly looking for a reasonably priced place for dinner and found Richoux. We got a table immediately, and there were lots of great choices on the menu. We all ordered something different, and we all loved what we ordered. The food was served soon after ordering, there was not a long wait. For a crowded evening before... More

Possible the worst dining experience I have ever had. My wife and I popped in on way home from Christmas shopping. The menu looked ok and we thought it would make a nice finish to our evening. My starter of calamari was dry and flavourless. Then after a long wait our main courses of poached salmon (for me) and sea... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
