La Bouchée is an all-round pleasant meeting place to enjoy French cuisine. The staff is polyglot, friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and so is the wine list accommodating all tastes.

Trusty Rick Steves guide in hand, I spent a lot of time searching for this place. I had just left the Victoria and Albert museum, and this restaurant was supposed to be nearby. I walked up and down Old Brompton Road, first looking for a street sign and finding none. I reached an intersection, and seeing me peering at my... More

We stumbled upon this French bistro style restaurant in Kensington by pure change and were skeptical from our perception of the exterior. However, the food here is honest and traditionally French but exceeds expectations in a relaxed environment.

The food was fabulous. The beef was so tender and it was so nice that it was served for Two. Also the escargot was scrumptious.

I went here last week with a friend with the aim of having a French meal. Sadly it was not to be because this lovely little French restaurant where I have eaten before has closed down. Looking through the windows, the interior had been gutted. It would be good to know if La Bouchée is planning to reopen elsewhere.

Small and a bit cramped but cosy for London. I have always enjoyed the food here but the service can be a bit patchy. It so,etimes feels like they have a "trainee day" when it comes to table service but overall I love this place. Nice and relaxing

We were staying in a nearby hotel and passed by La Bouchee coming back from the tube. We decided to stop in for a late lunch. The service was great and the food was just wonderful. A few days later, we passed by and there was a note on the door stating that the restaurant was closed until further notice.... More

It was my husbands birthday and we just happened on this tiny French restaurant. It was quite busy for a Monday lunchtime so we decided to try it. What a good decision! The food was obviously cooked to order as we waited about twenty minutes for it to arrive. My husband had chicken which was excellent and I had moule frites... More

A place you want to be - La Bouchée offers value, simplicity and French character. Great food and good wine. Charming. Booking recommended as it is "cosy".

We just walked past on our way elsewhere on a chilly January evening and noted how cosy it looked, with candles on all the tables. We popped in to reserve a table for later in the evening and the front if house welcome was friendly. Later, returning with an additional dinner guest wasn't a problem. The wine list was extensive,... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
