With girlfriends for a lunchtime set menu offer. Service attentive but not imposing. Views across the Thames. Food; 3 courses, venison carpaccio with beetroot- presentation and taste perfect. Duck breast with confit duck wrapped in cabbage leaf and jus followed by a version of Bakewell tart with fruit. All courses excellent. Coffee was accompanied by petit fours. This was at... More

Ok I've reviewed Skylon before and given it a glowing revue. Tonight I was rather disappointed. This is around my fourth visit this year. I will always choose to go to Skylon when meeting with friends. I celebrated my birthday with seven earlier this year and today went with friends who had never been there before . G and T's... More

I have visited the Grill a number of times over the years and never been disappointed with the food, wine and service. Plus if you are near the window and can enjoy the view then it's a real plus. On this occasion I dined with friends for weekend brunch. We opted for the bottomless prosecco option which was generous and... More

If you are attending an event at the Royal Festival Hall, Skylon is a fine choice, within the building, good view of the Thames and its activity, and quite good food with attentive staff to get you out for your concert.

Took the Girlfriend here for her birthday, the food was really really good and the staff are incredibly polite and welcoming. We was unable to get a window seat so maybe ring ahead and book one as it's quite a lovely view to set the mood. Great restaurant and we will be returning

This was the 3rd time we have visited Skylon and the 3rd time we have eaten in the main restaurant. We arrived slightly early, so had a few drinks at the bar, the service at the bar was good and the staff very friendly and attentive. Once seated for our meal, the staff were polite, attentive and the service was... More

Thirteen of us seated at a large table in a quiet corner of this amazing venue was the perfect setting for our birthday celebrations. As it was a Sunday, the roast was very popular and by the time we came to order there were only six left. Most people who ordered the roast said it was very good and difficult... More

Description
Skylon takes its name from the original, iconic structure that was built for the 1951 Festival of Britain and the restaurant's design echoes the style of the Royal Festival Hall during the same period. Situated on the third floor of the Southbank Centre, Skylon boasts outstanding views over the River Thames from its huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The main Restaurant features modern British cuisine, while the Grill offers more informal cooking and a relaxed atmosphere. The two dining areas are separated by a stunning centrepiece, raised bar which is renowned across London for its fabulous cocktails. Executive Head Chef Tom Cook brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen, following time at sister restaurant Pont de la Tour. Look out for regularly changing menus with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients combined simply and imaginatively. Visit the Skylon website for sample menus and further information.

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
