This is a good restaurant for supper with a great atmosphere and a buzzy feel around the bar where they serve excellent bar snacks sufficient as a meal in itself. However, when I dropped in for a drink with a girlfriend mid afternoon on a Saturday it was chaos with children running around and baby paraphernalia scattered around the bar... More

We frequent the Abingdon and today was no exception to the quality of food and service. The smoked salmon on crostini bread starter was excellent and the black pig pork chop with béarnaise and the sea bass with bacon bits and red wine reduction was a masterpiece of a dish. We ended with the famed cremebrulee and sticky toffee pudding... More

Big group dinner. Loved the bar friendly bar tenders who can also mix a drink. Great atmosphere too. Nice menu with broad offer. Quick service and tasty food with a comprehensive wine list to go with it. Great evening on the whole, would return and recommend.

My wife and niece went to the Abington while in London and found the food to be very good. The bangers and mash was superb and is highly recommended

Have frequented the Abingdon a number of times over the years and always very happy with service and food. However, went for lunch most recently on Sunday and was extremely disappointed. Staff/service was very good, however, the food was extremely disappointing. Burger, over cooked and tasteless. Fries, under cooked. Two friends had 'shoulder of lamb & all the trimmings'. In... Found this gem after asking a local street trader for a nice bar. He sent us to this fabulous place. The bar area is great with large comfy sofas. It has a great atmosphere/vibe. Didn't eat here but kind of wished I had as the restaurant looked great too.

Our friend told us we must visit as its one of his favorite spots in London. We drove quite far - so expected a lot. Service was super nice - got a nice booth, everyone was stopping by to chat every 5 minutes, chef came out to check on us, etc. yet i guess we had too high of expectations... More

An intimate upscale neighborhood restaurant with style. We loved Abingdon. Food: The meal was delicious. Beautifully prepared fish, seabass and cod, were delightful. Not huge portions but thoughtful preparation. Atmosphere: Totally cool. We loved it. Very comfortable and friendly. But also stylish. A great spot to impress a first dat. Service: Honestly, there were a few mistakes. Coffee delivered well... More

My wife and I took my aunt out for an evening meal. In the past this gastro-pub has provided good food for sensible prices. But that has now changed. The prices are up. A lot. The food is now a strange mixture of dishes from around the world. My wife chose a starter - the salmon - as she did... More

Nice little intimate pub in a quiet neighbourhood. Bar is small with some comfy seating done in nice fabrics - good atmosphere, easy to chat Restaurant is in adjacent room - interesting menu with some Asian touches in the Sri Lankan chicken and pork belly. Very good international wine list at fair prices. Attentive staff

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
