Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, fried wontons were crispy with a tangy sweet/sour sauce, our roasted duck was superb, with crispy skin and wonderful flavor. Our beef with black bean chili sause could have been a little hotter, but the meat was perfect. Would definitely go again and try some other dishes.

Booked well in advanced for a family anniversary lunch, we arrived at opening time and was seated at our table. Whilst restaurant was not busy, we had to wait 1 hour for staff to come and take our order. They did not seem to notice that there were any customers in the restaurant and we may as well have been... £43 aft compulsory, not discretionary service charge, for 1 lobster w a tiny amount of soft noodles. Noodles had strong alkaline taste, and absolutely no seafood taste at all. My worst meal in london actually. Env was clean, service was gd.

Arrived rather late on Sunday night and it was crowded and without reservations waited about 40 minutes but there was enough to do in the neighborhood that it was not a problem. The morale of the story, though, is to plan ahead and make a reservation. OK, next time. But the wait was worth it - BBQ pork and steak... More

Initially we went to New Fortune Cookie across the road, always love their roast duck and I enjoyed their lobster noodles, too. After placing our orders in New Fortune Cookie, they told us they rang out of lobster, so we left and go over to Mandarin Kitchen. Disappointment. Roast duck skin was crispy, but the meat was COLD. Not that tasty... More

There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants in London and for those of us who love digging into real Chinese food, the question remains: Where should I eat? Looks aren’t everything. Indeed, they may not be anything. Mandarin Kitchen is your departure from the fancy decor and dining in aestethically appealing ambience. The big draw here is lobster noodle, the finest... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
