I took my mum here for a surprise dinner to celebrate her 75th birthday. She loves Micheal so when he came out to say hello she was over the moon. Aside from that the food and service was exceptional, the only mark against the diner was the cost which was quite high compared to other similar dining experiences. That being... More

A special set seven course menu awaited diners, all pre booked, and a full house. Such is the reputation of La Gavroche that expectation runs high and for the most part our experience met with enjoyment and praise. Somehow however maybe not so much as on our first visit two years past. Why? Difficult to say, a little rushed maybe... More

At last I have been to this Fantastic place. My wife and I have wanted to get a table for ages. We arrived a little earlier than planned but no problem. We were guided to our table and sat comfortably in the far end of the restaurant. What lovely people. The menu was explained in detail and we chose the... More

We had planned for a few years to go to Le Gavroche for our 25th anniversary so were really looking forward to it. We ordered the Menu Exceptionelle and matching wines. Unfortunately, a misnomer and totally unexceptional... and also the most expensive meal we have ever had! There were so many letdowns. The presentation was really poor. I had expected... More

Completely overrated. The food is better than your average restaurant but in no way was the tasting menu preparations worthy of two Michelin stars. It was honestly probably the worst Michelin starred restaurant I've been to, and the tasting menu is supposed to showcase the chefs skills. Compared with Le Chantecler in Nice (also two stars), this falls completely short.... More

La Gavroche is one of my most favorite restaurants in the world hands down. With its classic setting, the tasting menu is fantastic and unlike other restaurants, every single dish is excellent. The menu is well thought out and balanced. The cheese soufflé is a gift to mankind - I could eat it everyday without complaining. To conclude, the overall... More

...do it in style, do at Le Gavroche. This is one of the most delightful, impressive and delicious restaurants I have ever visited - and to be honest, it's so much more than that. This is fine dining at it best, classical and elegant throughout. I was taken by my wife and friends and we were treated extremely well, the... More

I have been lucky to have lunch here 4 times and each time it's been amazing. Service, food, wine and ambience. Downfall- Need to book 3 months in advance but well worth the wait. Bonus- the man himself comes out to great his guest and if lucky you can have a pic taken with him.

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
