We have been going to NWC for years especially for the Dim Sum trolleys, but turned up on Sunday and found out it was under new management, and told CASH only as internet was down, but reading into this it is always cash only!! White table clothes gone, now Formica sticky tables, no sign of the trolleys, in the past... More

I've been going to this restaurant for the past 25 years and enjoyed every visit, except the last few – attrocious service and bad food. I'm really dissapointed, but looks like something significant has changd and I won’t be going back. For the first time in my life yesterday I refuse to pay the service charge. I’ll be looking for... This once great dim sum restaurant has gone down the pan. We visited Sunday lunchtime. We waited 20 mins and there were no trollies. Finally one came and there were two kinds of dumplings, cold and gelatinous. We ordered one plate of salt pepper squid and it was lukewarm and rubbery. We were told cash only. They wanted to charge... More

If you don't know about Chinese breakfast and you want to try it for the first time in London, this is among the best places you will find. It is not the best I have had (3/5), but definitely it is the first one edible I have seen in London. Good service and clean location with good space.

Just found out it's under new Management, was very disappointed, don't come here if you are expecting it to be the same as before. Came here especially for dim sum, from surrey, will never go back again!!! Cold food, more water chestnuts than seafood/meat. Still waiting to pay 10 mins after asking for the bill! Have now just found don't... More

After several years of visiting , this once amazing dim sum restaurant. Came today for a dim sum fix . Only to find the food had dramatic reduced in quality and taste . Since when does sesame prawn toast have water chestnuts in ?? Addressed it with the waitress, who shook her head in embracement . Asked the waitress what... More

Fancying Dim Sum on a Wednesdayevening we went to our old favourite New World that always served super Dim Sum. When we asked for the Dim Sum menu we were told they no longer serve it in the evening. In astonishment we surveyed the place and noticed that the decor had improved. Therefore we ordered from the main menu as... More

i've been eating dim sum for 40 or so years and last sunday was probably my last visit to new world. cold turnip cake, 10 minute reminders of cash payments only over the tanoi, the national anthem being played repeatedly to the staff's delight... it just reinforces urban theories about the poor taste in many of chinatown's establishments. avoid this... We have been regulars at New World for almost twenty years so were extremely disappointed today to be over-charged by more than 50 pounds. Some money was refunded after my husband spent half an hour complaining but it tarnished a family event. The trolleys were also slow to arrive - each type of food only came around once and the... We arrived to eat dim sum at about 3pm. They seated us at an uncleared table, and then spent ten minutes before changing the linen, bowls etc. We asked for tea. After 3 repeat attempts, this eventually came after 20 minutes. The food is served from trolleys. Two trolleys were left stranded a few tables away , with no one... More

Staying in Soho

Neighbourhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
