They were almost closing so we order just a cod with chips. The fish was a bit dry but ok. Nothing special. I was thinking that English fish will be something special but it was a regular fried fish and chips like chips also nothing extraordinary.

Best fish and chips in town. I love to go to Poppies once a month with my kids, they love it! We usually order the cod and chips on the regular size and it is more than enough. The ambience is also very good. Sometimes it's too crowded, but we enjoy it anyways.

I always have a stop at Poppies on my way to Camden market. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is well decorated. Even if I'm not a big fan of Fish & Chips, I really enjoy this traditional meal at Poppies.

This place is to avoid unless you want to overpay for yes good food but in an awful place with no respect for customers. This place is known to serve one of the best Fish and Chips in London. Food is good, although not as good as heavily advertised. However this is the only slightly above average point. Service was... More

We had the cod and chips and split it between two of us, more than enough! The best fish and chips I've had (though I do say that about once every 2 years). Really fun experience there. Fast and friendly, though I'd probably get take out next time as it's a heck of a lot cheaper for some reason!

Really great, traditional fish and chips. Classic drink menu. A little on the pricey side, but the restaurant atmosphere and staff really make up for the extra few £s. Just off Camden high street by the market, and with a Kooky interior and friendly servers me and my partner had a great time.

My two daughters and I ate here during a recent visit to Camden. The atmosphere is electric with great background music. The menu is limited - it is a fish and chip restaurant after all. I had the cod, my daughters had cod and chicken. Service was very quick and portions were very generous. It was a quintessential fish supper.... More

I went to the one in the Camden market and it was really good (be aware that it's like kiosks so there is no place to sit). Just don't order the large one, since it is not always as fresh as the regular size fish and chips (my boyfriend ordered the large one and regretted)

We visited on a Friday evening for their live music. Parking found on the road very nearby & very easy to find using GPS. First impressions, we were greeted immediately and guided to our table. Menus delivered immediately and we were left to wait for our friends. The decor is great, super quirky but without being cheesy. Even the staff... More

Let us take you back to the 1940s/50s London with award-winning, traditional British fish and chips.

Enjoy mouth-watering, fresh, sustainably-caught fish, cooked in crunchy batter and served with golden chips and classic mushy peas. You'll enjoy your meal surrounded by authentic 1940s/1950s memorabilia including a jukebox and Second World War posters, lovingly curated by Poppies owner Pat'Pop' Newland.

Pop has been serving fish and chips in the East End for 60 years, and, following the success of the first Poppies restaurant in Spitalfields, brings his passion for this much-loved dish to Camden.

Customers can find the same great quality food and service here, and the venue has live jazz/swing/pop/blues bands playing every Friday and Saturday at our Fish 'n' Gigs nights.

In addition to fish and chips, you can choose from other British favourites, such as pie, fish cakes, saveloy, battered sausage, and that love-it-or-hate-it East End special - jellied eels.

For those with a sweet tooth, we've included some traditional English puddings such as apple pie, Cartmell's award winning sticky toffee pudding from Cumbria and ice cream from the Minghella family business on the Isle of Wight.

To wash it all down, choose from our selection of drinks which include English cloudy apple juice, ginger beer, wine, beers and local ales.

Our take away food comes wrapped in newsprint boxes or cones, just as it was in the old days.

Reservations are not a must, but we do recommend you book in advance as it can get very busy.
