Popped in here before going to London Bride Couture for wedding dress fitting - what a find - lovely home baked goods, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic coffee, clean tidy and staff friendly and helpful. Only down side is that I don't live anywhere close so can't make it a regular visit. All home cooked breads. pastries to buy looked amazing.

This is truly a fantastic bakery! There are quite a few around London, and it's a must go for anyone. Everything that I've had is absolutely delicious! In the past (I don't know if they still have these) I had lamb and pine nut sausage rolls which were absolutely delicious. I've haven't tried much there, but I can confidently assume... More

I'm usually really impressed with the Gail's bakeries and I frequently go to Gail's Bakery off Bedford Square for business meetings. Yesterday evening, I was surprised to see a mouse running around the bar area. The staff said they were going to call pest control straight away but the waiter seemed to know about the problem and wasn't that apologetic.

Gail's is dangerous. It is warm, inviting, smells wonderful, looks amazing, tastes outstanding. All lethal qualities in a bakery. It's good thing I don't live in London. I popped into no less than three of their outlets during a week's visit. Despite it being a chain, it somehow retains a cozy, homemade feel. Their cinnamon buns are wonderfully crisp and... More

Once Gail's expanded and became a chain I felt like I should like it less. But the quality is always so very very good! This one is just off Tottenham Court Road and appears to be part of a hotel. The coffee is excellent and the choice of pastries superb! I am a fast decision maker when it comes to... More

Average service, food that sounded great on the menu but was nothing special, came out undercooked, was sent back and can back over cooked. Coffee was disappointing and small.

I just went fo a a coffee and was disappointed. Coffee was weak and served in a takeaway cup. It's particularly annoying because I was in their Wardor Street branch last week and had great one served in a proper cup. Yucky coffee-never again will I put my foot there.

This place used to be buzzing with a nice special lunch menu served with a great selection of Gails breads. It's now a pretty sad place with average food and very poor service. We asked for a bread basket and all waiters looked completely lost. It is a bakery but asking for bread seemed rather odd to them and we... More

I went to Gails to treat myself to lunch on a cruddy day, and it was very busy with a long queue to the take away bar. I couldn't choose what I wanted until the last moment on the queue. I picked up a small brown paper bag, which I assumed meant that you pick what you like to put... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
