I took some American friends to this pub as it has lots of character and serves really nice beer. Its a little small downstairs, but a lot of people tend to stand outside, however you do this at your peril as there are always a ton of smokers. The bar service was very good, friendly and courteous.

About 20 of us came here for after work drinks. It's a classic old style pub with a good range of beers. There is an outside standing area (under cover of being in a tunnel/public walk through) which is handy as the inside is not and huge and a bit narrow given the bar positioning. Good service.

Very convenient located to the major tourist sites but far enough away to appreciate the excellent atmosphere and quality ales. Well worth a visit

I also ordered the Kale and Sweet Potato wrap that I ate too fast to think about taking a photo. My friend and I came here... More

Located next to very expensive restaurants, this place is perfect for a quick and cheap London lunch. We had the Big Fish and Chips and the plate was huge! Check out the first floor with extra seatings.

Situated on small pedestrian 'alley' just off pall mall, this is a small traditional london pub. Very old and sort of quaint! Friendly staff. We only had drinks but food going to tables looked and smelt apperising tho menu wasnt particularly extensive.

The Golden Lion was mine and my husband's first time eating in London. We both decided we wanted to have some local favorites so I tried fish & chips and my husband had bangers & mash (but I think they called it sausage & mash). Both would be a first for us. I'm very glad I found this restaurant on... More

We visited pub on our way for dinner. I had IPA, which was fabulous. Great atmosphere. A lot of screens and TV's to watch Premier Ligue.

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
