We popped in here for a quick drink between appointments in the area. This is a Nicholson's ale & gin establishment, and everyone in there was very helpful, holding lavatory doors open for us, fetching our drinks over to our table etc etc. The drinks were the same as any other pub and we didn't try the food. But I... More

The Marquis is just off of Horsferry Road Millbank and is a lovely pub which serves great food and plenty of varied drinks. It gets really busy after work weekdays and Friday nights it is heaving but well worth a visit.

I called in for a drink and noted they claimed to be the original 'gin palace' and indeed they had about 13 gins to choose from. I had a gin or two.

Good pub food. Nice interior. Free wifi. Friendly staff and seemed like friendly clientele. If in the area a perfectly reasonable option.

We had been at a few good Nicholson's pubs and that was why we chose this for an afternoon meal. The dining room upstairs was closed (don't know why) so we asked if we could order food in the pub - that was okay. But the food was the worst I have ever eaten! I ordered a "hunters chicken" and... in huge portions. If that is what you're looking for The Marquis is a option. There is the pub down stairs and a small restaurant upstairs. I visited the pub once with my daughter of 12 for lunch and despite not crowded at all we were not allowed to have lunch but sent to the restaurant. We left. This time... More

This is a nice pub. There is a good selection of real ales which are kept well and at a reasonable price for the area (even cheaper with the Nicholson's app). Music is at a nice volume. Not loud enough to disturb conversations but loud enough to listen to if that is what you want. The staff are extremely friendly... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
