Have been here so ofter for many years. But this was an off night. Food mediocre Service very junior. Somebody in charge was either asleep or absent. London has so much to choose from. !!!

Try the catch in 34. My catch included yellowfin tuna tartar (very good) and halibut as main course, which was delicious, though, I am affraid, two bottles of nice Albarino contributed to our happy mood that evening. My friends who ordered John Dory were happy two. Service was extraordinary, as our glasses were always full and gents were not visible.... More

Lunch with a friend today was superb. Its an elegant yet casual setting with very friendly staff. Service is totally on the ball without being overbearing. Wine was served promptly and we were given enough time to look over the menu. We weren't going to order starters but when our waiter told us the Chateaubriand would take about 40 minutes,... More

Went to 34 Mayfair last evening. It is a few steps off Grosvenor Square in Mayfair. My family went on the recommendation of the concierge at Claridge's. He did not steer us wrong! From start to finish, the experience was top notch. I started with a tuna tartar, and my wife with a salmon poke. We switched mid-plate. Win, win.... More

I met a few friends for lunch at 34 Mayfair in January as it had come recommended by friends who work nearby. I had checked the website and they had a very nice looking Seasonal Set Menu so I went with high expectations. As the first to arrive I was seated and given the standard menu which had no mention... Enjoyed a very nice lunch here with friends in a sophisticated atmosphere with outstanding service. Quality linen, glassware and silver Reasonably expensive - the food was good, but not outstanding - quite a few suits, not surprising given the location in Grosvenor Square. If you are looking for a fine experience across ambience, food, wine and service, and are happy... More

Quickly popped in for a spot of brunch. Great service, great food. As it was such a good experience we went back for dinner on a separate occasion, which was also great.

We visited for a birthday surprize dinner and it was certainly a surprize to those paying! We ordered wine by the glass as we wished to have differing choices and found the wine exceptionally expensive - the Pouilly was lovely but at £22 for a glass the price was indefensible as was a carafe of french Pinot Noir at nearly... Helen and I visited this restaurant for the second time on Saturday and had a thoroughly good experience. We really enjoy the busy and vibrant atmosphere here, it always feels like a special occasion. The food was exceptional, especially the cod and choriz, the service was impeccable and the surroundings are perfect. It's not cheap but it is great.

I had a meal with business colleagues last night which was "ok" I guess but nothing special and quite expensive for what you got. Desserts were the highlight. Service was decent. Rest of the food was pretty bland. It was also very noisy.

Description
Located just off Grosvenor Square (entrance on South Audley Street) in the heart of Mayfair, 34 has become a modern-day classic since it opened in November 2011. Burned orange banquettes, oak parquet and a colourful contemporary art collection give the room a warm and inviting look, highlighted by the bespoke charcoal grill in the open kitchen. The grill, also known as a parrilla and fed by natural fuels, was custom-made and imported from Argentina.
Head Chef, Harvey Ayliffe has developed an eclectic menu, using the grill not only for beef, but also for seasonal game, fish and shellfish. "Lobster mac" is a perennial favourite, and there is a wide variety of salads and lighter dishes for the less carnivorous diners.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
