With all the coffee chains in my neighbourhood I really wanted to like this place and make it my home away from home for coffee. I even gave the owner a few allowances. But she is a grouch and rude. I even thought okay she adds character to the place. It didn't work. She is a grouch and rude. I... More

A great little place to pop in for a drink and a cake. Not the most refined patisserie but a great choice with some decent sized cakes (easily enough to share) as well as some more delicate sized options. Very homely and welcoming lady (owner?) Who seems unflappable. Would def pop in again if passing.

Best cappuccino I've drunk in London. The pastries are also very good. We've come back to L'Etoile again and again for a good, quiet breakfast, served by nice people.

My wife and I spent 8 nights at the Hyde Park Hotel, located just a block past this corner on Garaway Road. Each morning, we began the journey around town, looking for a good place to pick up a reasonably priced breakfast before beginning our "touristing". Anyhow, as anyone that has vacationed in London knows, food can get expensive very... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
