Friendly staff, well thought through menu and well cooked dishes. We initially came here with a couple of friends for Sunday lunch. After enjoying our food which was prompt and very tasty, our friends had to leave, but it was such a lovely place my husband and I whiled away several hours in the quaint walled garden enjoying red wine.... Horrible unfriendly place. We were a large group on a leaving do. The so called owner was cold and unfriendly. The bar lady was pleasant, but obviously not used to working with people. Very cold decor. Garden was pretty, but just a bit uncomfortable because of the obvious snobbery. Great, I'm sure for Sloan Ranger types (owner walked around with... More

Sad to say this pleasant local pub which has offered acceptable food for years is now serving inedible nastiness. The quality used to be variable but never downright bad, now it is. Whoever is cooking just doesn't do it well, and apparently doesn't understand flavours, textures or value because it's overpriced. After returning one dish and eating most of a... More

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. No not the food, because we didn't actually get any. I'm talking service. We placed our order although the majority of the menu was "finished". Should have realised that there was a problem when the table next to us received their food in four stages with cutlery to follow. After 45 minutes waiting we chased up our... More

Great for a quiet early evening drink. The staff were very pleasant, the beer was good and the prices are not exorbitant for the area.

I've recommended this place to several people and have enjoyed very pleasant lunches there. Perhaps my mistake was to pop in as (shock, horror!) an unaccompanied woman of a certain age. The waitress mumbled something inaudible on my entry and then proceeded to ignore me for 10-15 minutes, although I had picked up a menu to take to my table.... More

We used to be regular dinner and lunch guests at this cosy pub just south of King St. It was a good location for Sunday roasts or evening meals, with a well-run kitchen turning out good fresh food at a fair gastropub price. Alas, alas, how it has fallen. Tonight was the third visit in a few months. Each time... More

We sat down at 2030. Many items for starter and main course finished. Requested wine on list finished. What food there was ok ish. Service disinterested bordering on hostile. Something going wrong.....
