The place is cosy with kind staff and a good selection of ales and beers. The food is good traditional British food. I had squeak and bubble with black pudding and duck egg, but the specials list included many more treats and fish meals too....More

Quiet. Quaint. Friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Visited a number of times during our stay in the area - lunch and dinner. Just as how I envisaged an old, local english pub to be.

We visited here for food and it was a disaster. The service at the bar was a little jaded, however having had drinks they took our food order. 45 minutes AFTER we placed the food order we were told one of the dishes we ordered...More

Visited here with family and friends who enjoy a good pint of beer and they were not disappointed. Liked the fact that dogs were allowed and that there was no loud music to have to shout over. Brother also enjoyed the pickled eggs! Good place...More

Beautiful old English pub, quaint interesting and cozy and their Guinness was nice and cold loved the plates hanging up around the lounge. The atmosphere was good

A small (only two rooms) and a very cozy pub, which is considered to be a great place for long drinking conversations for a pint, and then another pint, and then how it will turn out. The main bait is the ales of all varieties...More

I grew up on Harveys and seek out any opportunity to enjoy a pint. This place is great for that and keeps its beers very well indeed. It offers traditional snacks like pickled eggs and the food is fantastic good country pub grub. They've resisted...More

Given the white heat of gentrification nearby in South London, the Royal Oak is an oasis of an old fashioned boozer dedicated to Harveys' great traditional ales. Step inside and you'd think you were a world and decades away.

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Not sure as have not noted any signs indicating that they are not a dog friendly pub. My best guess is that they do allow dogs.
