Stopped for a quick brunch at one of my favourite cafe chains and ordered the croque madam with a poached egg and a coffee. When it arrived the. Poached egg was hard boiled . Explained this too the waiter who asked if I had specified it soft poached when ordering - which is a new one on me. The friendly... More

I don't normally bother to comment on cafe food in London, but PV hit rock bottom. Early morning and quite quiet but took ages to get breakfast order taken. When the poached eggs arrived they were totally uncooked and the plate was swimming in uncooked egg. The waitress had clearly recognised the eggs were not cooked properly and was not... More

My husband and I came here for a late breakfast and got seated just in time before the mid-morning rush. When we first glanced at the menu, we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced all of the menu items were as compared to other establishments in the St James area. My husband ordered the full English breakfast which included... More

My wife wrote, "By this time, it was late for lunch. On the corner of St. James and Piccadilly, we ate at Patisserie Valerie. I wanted to get Tea for 2 (25 pounds), but Mike's practicality won the day. We ordered two things, planning to share them. However, one was a whole meal, so we got the other to go... More

Had breakfast here with scones , tea and coffee. Scones is not bad but it would be better if they can heat it up. It comes with cream and jam but I had better. I would say it is average. Coffee is better than tea. Not a lot of choices for tea

On the way to special event at St James's Palace..stopped in for lunch. Service was very poor. Staff seem to have their attention elsewhere and not on the customers. Food mediocre..luke warm grilled croissant. All 3 customers at my neighbouring table returned theirs saying it was cold. What a shame for such a prime location.

A well-known chain, a prime location, time for morning coffee, what could go wrong? My partner and I entered this small branch of Patisserie Valerie, a brand we normally enjoy. As instructed by a board near the door we waited to be seated. Another couple entered right behind us, soon followed by a group of four. Despite this being a... More

Very busy... Great location... the eclair I got was ok - not great. Coffee was drinkable. Service was poor. We seemed to be an imposition to the staff. They were busy I'll say that, but we felt as though we were imposing being there.

Great cakes, great cappuccinos, but the service is horrible. Imagine a host that makes all possible to get you out. So that what you will find if go there by 8pm. Lack of education!!!!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
