Only had drinks here, but the welcome and service were great and the decor and seating very comfortable. Great views across the river at the London skyline. So handy for the river taxi too.

We were given a voucher by friends for a meal here which we used today. Our waiter was excellent. We had a lovely table facing the Thames. Service was very good. Food excellent. Would highly recommend.

The Swan never disappoints. Helpful staff that found us a table overlooking the river. Great atmosphere and delicious food. It's also on the Southbank with lots of interesting activities going on.

Ideally situated next to The Globe which I visited. There are 2 floors for dining with the top floor having the better views of The Thames. Service was good and the food was very tasty and not badly priced for London. Would come again. Ideal for pre-theatre meal if you were seeing a play next door.

We went to the Swan for 'Sunday lunch' which is traditionally some type of roast. We had the roast beef with comes with all the 'trimmings', including roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. I guess we are spoiled with the quality of beef in the US but this did not measure up. The quantities were plentiful and the price was... More

We had a family dinner at Swan recently that start well but took an unfortunate turn. Seated immediately and all off to a good start but somewhere between starters and main our waiter disappeared. Abducted by aliens? A time traveler? A key role in the second act at the Globe Theater? All just speculation because no one ever told us.... More

We ate downstairs - a lovely bar with a relaxed atmosphere plus fab views of the Thames. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and good value. We would definitely visit again.

We had a lovely family lunch looking over the Thames. Tasty food and good menu. I had the slow roasted OX cheek and family members had the sea bass and duck - really good

Met a colleague after work at the restaurant, which is at first floor, sited above the bar area. Good reception arrangements, bags and coats promptly taken. When we arrived at 1830hr, the restaurant was very busy, mainly with pre-theatre diners. Good spacing between tables and although all surfaces in the restaurant were hard, the noise levels, although high, still allowed... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
