Small pub in the bottom of the Covent Garden Piazza. We found a little nook that was separated from most of the pub, which was good as we had two kids with us. It was crowded with an after work crowd, but service was good,...More

The atmosphere is amazing with all of the buskers on the street and extra special with the Christmas decorations. The food is basic English pub food at a reasonable price. There is big outside covered area downstairs and the upstairs area is for adults only.

We stopped in after wandering around the Market for a while. Though it was a very cool day, we sat out on the balcony with drinks, to watch the street performers down below. We had a great time. After a while we went inside to...More

Just came off the open top bus tour and it was freezing. Stumbled upon the Punch and Judy and found a table right at the back. Ordered pie and mash, and it was served quicker than pot of tea we ordered earlier. Both the meal...More

Visited Punch & Judy a few weeks ago for a few drinks. We sat outside and watched some entertainers as it was a pretty nice day. The entertainers made our experience to be honest. The drinks were OK priced for central London. The bar itself...More

I went there on Sunday 22nd October to meet some friends. I had to wait for the bar woman to get off her phone to serve me (after I demanded it) and got a small gin & tonic in a plastic 7oz cup for £6.80,...More

I don't quite understand the criticism. If you want a gourmet dinner, go elsewhere (P & J serves lovely English pub food if you like that sort of thing). Punch & Judy is one of the best pubs in London.

The Punch & Judy is a world famous pub landmark in its own right and is thought to be named after the puppet show performances that took place in the nearby piazza for the children of flower-sellers. Built in 1787, this listed building retains much of the original brick and stonework. It's known as being one of the very few buildings in the area that escaped bomb damage during the blitz. The pub is located facing the west piazza and from this balcony our guests have the best view to watch the street performers. It is clear why a pub in London’s Covent Garden Piazza bears this name, for it was here in May 1662 that Samuel Pepys came to see the performance of an Italian puppet play. This is the first record of a ‘Punch’ show in England and would have been a novelty at the time. The Punch & Judy serves fantastic British cask ales, selected wines and premium spirits as well as traditional British pub food such as fish & chips and steak & ale pie. The team look forward to your visit!
