Its worth a visit just to see the wonderful interior of this former bank with its wood and glass and magnificent dome, but as well as a visual feast, the beer is also pretty good. It's a Fullers house, so carries their full range and seasonal beers, meaning that there should be something that matches your tastes. Its pretty expensive,... More

We recently held a major corporate function at The Counting House. It was an absolutely smashing success thanks to the very professional staff headed by Jaz. Our guests came from around the world and were treated to an amazing array of beers and pies. As we had taken out the entire pub our guests were able to choose to sit... More

This pub is so beautiful, it should not be missed. The food was standard pub fare and was good and the service when I was there was excellent. The atmosphere is perfect.

Curious to try their famous pies. Delicious but not extra-ordinary. Nevertheless, very happy to chill here, beautiful pub with a lot of history. Just a great place to relax for lunch or after work, wonderful atmosphere. Friendly service.

The Pub was taken over for an evening wedding reception, and a lovely atmosphere. The food was all meat free, a mixture of veggie and vegan, and was all excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. Sitting in the Gallery where space is at a bit of a premium access was difficult, but everyone managed to have a great evening

Visited here with our American family. Boy were we wowed with the inside decor and charm. But the best was yet to come - the food. We all had pie. Myself the stargazy, the hubster the steak and ale, my cousin the lamb with red pepper, and his partner the taster board of pies with ales. I have to say... More

This pub is quite near my work but not been there for a while. Went with a colleague and we both had the steak pie and a couple of beers. Top pie, nice chips, a good pile of veg and a pot of gravy. Plus a great pint of London Pride. What more could anyone ask for? Nothing. And, it's... More

Dined here with a colleague last night sitting down to eat at approx. 8:30pm. The pie platter that we really wanted was unavailable (no explanation was given) so we each had the steak & ale pie. The pies were tasty but my chips were over cooked and dry (they were clearly frozen oven ready). My colleague's mash potato was tasteless.... More

Yesterday our Dining Club (founded in 1907) was once again hosted in the Griffin Room at The Counting House. We continue to be impressed with the ambience of the room and bar, the friendliness of the staff, the excellent service and the quality of the food. We hope that this will remain our future dining home for years to come.... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
