The Poilane bread is excellent. I always buy a half and have them cut into quarters then sliced, one goes in the freezer for later. The walnut bread is pricey but also delicious. I haven't tried the cakes but the Croissants are among the best you will find outside France.

I would definitely recommend this cafè to anyone. The location is great, it's just behind Sloane Square, one of the nicest squares in London. As a consequence it is really easy to get there as one can take the tube to Sloane Square station and walk for 3 minutes. The restaurant ambience is really nice. All kinds of people go... More

I have been here many times and I am always struck at how much the staff appear to be happy and at ease with the customers. The food is very reasonably priced and based on their excellent bread and other products such as jam etc. if you go before 12 noon you can have the. Reakfast menu which includes the... More

Our hotel is just around the corner from Poilane in Cadogan Gardens. We like to go there for breakfast as the bread is so great. It is also nice for snacks and bites. At times it can be quite busy and service a bit slow. But they are all very nice there and try hard in hectic times. And don't... More

In Chelsea, there are two Poilane places that are near one another: one is a superb branch of the well-known Paris bakers on Elizabeth Street, and the other is a rather forgettable restaurant on Cadogan Gardens, across from Peter Jones department store. The bakery shop is a jewel with a wood-fired oven in the cellar (by appointment only, but I've... More

The bread may be good but we found the food in the restaurant to be acceptable but uninspiring. In addition, the seating is awkward with shared tables, bar like seats etc. There are better options on Kings Road and Duke of york square.

Staying in Belgravia

Neighbourhood Profile
Belgravia
Home to the vast majority of embassies and diplomatic residences in London, sophisticated and upscale Belgravia also boasts a wealth of luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and some of the city’s most stroll worthy lanes. While the prices here are high, taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of picturesque and elegant white stucco houses is free. Hyde Park and the Buckingham Palace Gardens are only a stone's throw away to the north, and some of Europe’s best shopping is nearby as well.
