I went there for dinner yesterday with a friend - I think this place has been renamed My Old Place. The menu lacked description so I found it hard to choose a dish to eat. The lady that was serving us seemed a bit annoyed when I was asking questions about the menu. We were not asked if we wanted... More

The more people you go with the more dishes you can order and therefore more variety. Some of the dishes are a bit hit and miss. Be aware of the sezchuan peppercorns! The cucumber dish is incredible and the lamb skewers are Moorish and so tasty. No frills but service is always quick. Authentic and like no high street Chinese... More

Every time I go to this place, I'm surprised by their authentic cooking which tastes really great and makes you discover tasty dishes away from the usual Chinese dish. Prices are very reasonable. The decoration is not surprising and simple - but you wanna eat here, right? Though do not except polite waiters. It is owned by the same people... More

Although I agree with reviewers who describe this restaurant as bare bones in decor and service, I had a great experience with the food. We enjoyed the lamb skewers, vegetable dishes and spicy calamari. The food was very good, much better than any Chinese food I usually find in the US. This restaurant used to be Gourmet San but the... We had Sunday lunch there today, five of us, on arrival I was rather anxious as I had read the poor reviews. The restaurant doesn't look very inviting and there were few other diners there so my anxiety increased, but when the food arrived I was so relieved. It was very good! The waitress was quite polite and the food... More

Probably one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have visited. I'm a fan of Szechuan food, but there is little to recommend the food here. Excessively oily, overloaded with onions, very little meat and overpriced. The service is lacklustre too. It was rated highly by Jay Rayner (who I don't particularly like) in 2008, but must have been in freefall... More

I actually used to like gourmet San but after this experience never again. After the initial order was placed, 2 hours went by with no means of knowing where our food was. After numerous attempts to call they said the driver will be 10-15mins by the end they would only offer 10% off our bill! This is after changing our... More

This was just so disappointing. I used to visit this restaurant often when I lived in Bethnal Green around four years ago and I have been recommending it even since I've moved away. My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday night take away. We ordered it just before 8pm and it turned up after 10pm. After... More

Very basic canteen/cafe style decor. Probably best a to come if you're adventurous with meats. Very worrying when you could hear the microwave going constantly in the kitchen. (Visit - 04/10/2014 Lunch Service)
