Most of the time I go for spicy Indian food, I did ordered Chicken tikka massala balti, the food is terrible, full of sugar to taste and deceive customers. As soon as I left I did throughout honestly, imagine if you are diabetic or sensitive to some kind of food, perhaps we may end up in a hospital. I recommend... More

Good meat dishes although two of us felt ill from the prawn dish. Very slow service. Would not recommend until they get more staff

This really is a hidden gem!! We started by looking at the menu but the owner started to ask about our likes and and tastes and picked a dish for us. This was absolutely spot on and is my new favourite dish. The meat was cooked well and the curry tasted amazing. I found the way he asked was really... More

The owner is still working on the decor of this place having just moved to this location. Do not let you put this off this little gem. The menu has the traditional indian dishes one might also expect, but also has several wonderful specialties. I challenge you to put yourself in the hands of Ali. Give him the highlights of... More

Used to go to the one in chapel market. Been there plenty of times. Best curry in London. Traditional food and Ali is a great host. Think I have tried every single thing from their wide menu. Never been disappointed. My all time favourite is taska dal. Highly recommend it!!

Myself and 9 friends visited the 'new' Spices at the weekend for my birthday and all left very impressed. It has lost none of it's previous charm and the food as usual is incredible. The value for money is great, you can bring your alcohol and the food is generously portioned and delicious. The best part is the staff. The... More

I went there for dinner with two friends. The food was delicious and the staff were really nice to us. I didn't know what to order so I asked for help and they made wonderful recommendations based on my own personal taste. They don't serve alcohol but you can take your own drinks there (beer, wine, or whatever), so that... More

When we heard (for the umpteenth time) that Spices on Chapel Market was threatening to close, we took it with a pinch of salt. So it was indeed a calamitous day when we visited the old site and found it genuinely shut up. Happily Bengal Spice on the Holloway road, is essentially the same (AMAZING) restaurant that Spices was: the... More

Spices in Chapel Market served easily the best curries I've eaten in London – fresh, delicious, subtle. I went there regularly even though I live far away in South West London. So I was absolutely gutted when Ali was forced out of Islington by rising rents. His new place is even further away from me, but it's lost nothing in translation.... More
