Didn't realise that the former 2 Michelin stars chef had left some months earlier. The restaurants décor was tired, old world and faded. Staff were OK , appropriately polite and perhaps used to a different clientele. Only 4 tables were occupied on a Wednesday lunchtime....More

Went for the lunch tasting menu for friend's birthday. The tasting menu is really nice - the food was cooked in a high standard. It was quiet on Saturday, so feel you almost have the feeling that having the whole place to ourselves :)

This place has some of the trappings of a Michelin-starred eatery - obsequious staff, tasting menu, opulent setting - but it doesn't make the grade. Service was really slow, portions were tiny, flavours disappointing. The bill was certainly at Michelin-Mayfair levels. Glad I wasn't paying....More

Extravagant, stupendous. However, they have lost wow effect, or I have grown up since the last time I was here, so they cannot buy me anymore. All in all, worth, will come back. Just because of the 'being at home' feeling.

Lunch on Easter Saturday. The room was quiet and lacked a little atmosphere which is the only reason I haven't rated it as excellent. The food was outstanding particularly the rabbit. The staff are friendly and efficient particularly the lady sommelier who recommended a very...More

Visited on a Monday night in 20** with a couple of mates to celebrate my leaving work. Both food and lots of wine were memorable(ish). Famously fussy eaters had no complaints - we will be back. Hope you enjoyed it, Ted and Bob!

We had the tasting menu which was good with a few stand out dishes. However, personally I much preferred the Ledbury where we dined a few weeks later. Special mention must be made to the great service we received. A friend turned up to say...More

An almost faultless lunch. Fantastic. A lengthy tasting menu where every course was strong, even the deserts which are often the downfall. Its rare, even at other starred restaurants, that every course is great.Having been concerned with the recent change of chef we were not...More

Set beside some of London's best parks and home to
world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed
thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of
London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is
haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is
vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic
streets will reveal that Michelin stars and
chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even

The Square restaurant in London's ultra-smart Mayfair has four right angles: great food, wines, service, and location. The dining room is a refined space where you can seal a deal, celebrate a triumph, or simply dine incredibly well. Chef Patron Philip Howard has earned a pair of Michelin stars for his unique French-inspired haute cuisine using impeccable ingredients to create dishes capable of both gossamer elegance and vivid boldness all in the same bite. Everything is superb, though we particularly recommend the herb-crusted saddle of lamb with shallot purée, artichokes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The Square's wine list (wine bible, really) runs to 80 pages of the world's finest.
