Holy moly! Those cakes are very generously portioned and utterly delicious. We stopped in before lunch but would otherwise have tried some of the delicious sounding savoury dishes. The friendly ladies even pagacked my leftover cake for me to take away.

Everywhere you look in the Lakes, are tea rooms. Some are very good and some are mediocre. The Sun knocks seven bells out of all of them! It's tiny, with around 25 seats or so. It's utterly superb so expect it to be busy. We called on a very rainy day and had the sunniest welcome you could get. The... More

Tiny little place tucked away in Hawkshead- but there are a handful of outside tables on the street and in the alleyway- home made cakes and god coffee, worth seeking out!

Love this little cafe, amazing food and great quality and portions. Always lovely friendly staff, only problem is they don't accept card payment so only cash !!

We went into the Sun Cafe after seeing the sign reading "fresh seafood chowder". The place is literally tiny and were lucky enough to find a small table for two. Proceeded to have the aforementioned chowder and were not disappointed at all. It's served with mussels and cod fish in it and is the definition of comfort food - creamy,... More

We visited here for brunch on our drive back from the lakes. The two ladies running the cafe were an absolute delight- so friendly and chatty. Service with a smile! 3 of us ordered the potato hash with egg and the other ordered the chowder. The hash was a large serving and it was so tasty we had to eat... More

After stopping in Hawkshead for a bite to eat and being stuck between lunch and dinner serving times in the pubs we found ourselves in this quirky place. Burgers were fantastic and cake takeaway brilliant! Very tiny inside but only added to the cosy feel of the place. Wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but we certainly enjoyed.

This little cafe is perfectly situated in Hawkshead near the Beatrix Potter Gallery in the Lake District. They make HUGE, yummy cakes and serve hot, delicious tea which hits the spot after walking through Beatrix Potter country. The service is friendly and efficient even during very busy periods. I would definitely recommend having a nibble here.

The vary large cakes in the window caught our eye but after our very tasty lunch we didn't have room to try any. Good value for money and very cosy, loved the decor. Thank you.
