Lovely family meal. Kids portions not cheap but excellent quality and very plentiful. Highly recommend the chicken Kiev and the burger! We will be back!

Sheila's was recommended to us by the hotel that we were staying in and we were so glad that we went there. The food was amazing - definitely the best meal we had in our whole holiday We chose from the early bird menu - not because we were trying to save money, purely because we liked the choices on... What a wonderful place ! The staff could not have been more welcoming, making our meal a truly lovely experience The food was excellent and had we have been staying longer we would have visited again. I would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant if you are in Ambleside
Had a delightful mid-week meal. There are a surprising amount of tables available as the restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks. It is low lit and has a lovely ambiance, the staff are very helpful and attentive. We had a steak that was cooked perfectly and a delightful half and half sharing platter that included some wonderful tastes... More
We popped in for a light lunch having read the menu outside, as it seemed to offer a good range of food and lighter snacks. After a hearty Lake District breakfast neither of us wanted a large lunch, so I opted for the soup and my friend had the sticky toffee pudding, a Lake District speciality. The soup was ham,... More
We enjoyed dinner at this town centre restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient. Most of the dishes were good but the steak was no better than average. Prices are a little high. As others have commented, food is served very quickly which suggests a lot of reheating.
Has been a regular cafe for us for many years. I skip lunch when I know we are going, for one reason - its cream tea. A fresh scone with clotted cream & jam, a slice of Borrowdale teabread with crumbly Lancashire cheese & butter and a pot of loose leaf darjeeling tea. No other cafe comes close to this... More
Very quaint but sociable restaurant. The lunch and evening meal menus are full of amazingly tasty dishes. The steak and kidney pudding is to die for. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. 4th visit to Ambleside and 8th visit to Sheila's.
I rarely ate that well in a British restaurant. I had the salmon and my husband the lamb, and it not only tasted fantastic but also looked great. The menu is diversified enough, the venue is adorable and the staff very friendly. I would have came here every evening if I knew there was such a place.
