We came to try the Persian out as the reviews were good and it did not disappoint! We got the luxury selection for 2 which cost £42. This included 3x Meze starters, 2 Skewers of lamb and 1 of chicken, with a side portion of rice and yogurt dips for the main, then to top it off Persian tea and a slice of pistachio baklava for dessert. This was definitely worth every penny! It’s full of flavour and worth a visit. It’s a cosy environment and the staff was attentive without being intrusive. The chef even came out to say hello! Although it’s small it’s mighty!

Yesterday evening we as a party of 7 went to the Persian for a meal. I opted for the Lamb Bandari which was an extremely flavoursome lamb stew which came with Basmati rice , bread and yoghurt dip. The stew I cannot fault at all, it was so tasty and the lamb just fell apart. I also ordered two sides, the hummus and a creamy egg salad. You can also take your own wine which saves money also, they have a £3 corkage fee per bottle which I am happy to pay. This is our 3rd visit here, food came out quickly and everyone’s meal looked so delicious. We both had starters, main and corkage fee x2 and the bill came to a very reasonable £47. The decor isn’t fancy or designer but hey, you don’t go to a restaurant to admire the wallpaper do you !!! Small family run restaurant with Middle Eastern charm.

Absolutely fantastic, authentic food. Four of us shared the Deluxe selection with enough Koobideh, Joojeh, Barg and Changeh to keep us all happy and well fed. Bonus was the flat bread under the kebabs that soaked up all the juices. Starters were, again, execllent, some of the best felafels I have had and the hummus and Salad-e Olivieh were excellent. Star of the show was without a doubt the Fesenjan. Miss it at your peril. Very friendly and attentive waitress and it was lovely that the chef came out and had a chat with everyone, they obviously take great pride in their food.

We had a delightful experience at 'The Persian' on Princes Avenue in Hull. Our host, an ex mariner, and chef was very convivial and charming. The rustic wooden paneling in the room, and general (and not overly noisy) buzz from the full restaurant, gave a chilled vibe. Between our group of seven, aged from twenty five to ninety five, we tried all of the starters, and many of the main courses. The Persian special mains, were delicious, particularly, the Ghormeh Sabzi, a lamb stew made with sautéed mixture of fresh herbs and fenugreek, served with saffron rice. The double starter deal was excellent value though almost too much to eat so you may not need doubles all round. The extra bonuses; you can take your own wine for modest corkage of £3, and there is easy-to-access and free parking just behind the restaurant. All enhanced our experience. I recommend booking as the restaurant is not huge, was fully booked, and walk-ins risk disappointment.

First visit today, what can I say? The owner was so attentive and spent the time to explain the menu and even offered a taster of one of the meze dishes. the food - wow such flavour profiles and fanatic they offer a BYOB service. I was able to pair a fantastic Lebanese red with our meal (from Aldi if anyone's interested). will be back!

This is a small, unlicensed restaurant serving Persian dishes. The cooking is of exceptional quality, the portions are very generous, and the value for money is consequently outstanding. The service is friendly, charming and impressively efficient. The overall ambience is happy and bustling. It was full when we arrived about 7pm (we had booked) but quietened down significantly later in the evening; perhaps people are generally eating earlier these days? The restaurant serves soft drinks, but since it is unlicensed, it offers a corkage service for three pounds per wine bottle if you bring your own, which is very reasonable (just consider the rapacious mark-up on very ordinary wines that one finds in so many restaurants!). Overall a very strong and unqualified recommendation; we will be back.

Looked for a nice lunch venue and found it! Despite limited menu owner did superb job of offering alternatives and the bottomless flat bread/rice a nice gesture! Forgot to take pictures! Hot aubergine dip excellent đź‘Ś

We visited The Persian on 27 April 2022 with our friend. The food was stunning, flavours just perfect and outstanding service. The owner who served us was from the Persian area and knew the dishes inside out - able to explain how they are cooked in depth. It was the best meal of the year and will visit again.

Turned up late and hungry after a long hospital visit, and Ali and his staff couldn't have been more accommodating! We were served fabulous dishes of Gaymeh (lamb stew) and and Ghormeh Sabzi (national dish of Persia), both of which were hugely enjoyable. Highly recommended, and we will be back!

Beautiful food on our way to the ferryport. We particularly enjoyed the homemade vanilla, saffron and rosewater ice cream! Kids loved their huge portions of chicken kebab with rice or chips and my seabass was fantastic. Big shout out to the friendly and kindly owner

Despite having all the restaurants in town and in the marina right next to me, the menu here really intrigued me and it was absolutely worth me making the trip! The smoked aubergine starter was gorgeous, but for me the highlight was the Fesenjan, a beautiful, perfectly seasoned chicken stew with a wonderful pomegranate and walnut sauce. Highly recommended! Great value for money (I’m known for my appetite but left stuffed!), and the £3 corkage if you bring your own beers/wine is also very reasonable. If only the distance from London wasn’t so great, I’d be here all the time! :-)

The Persian has a cosy feel and staff are very friendly and attentive. Everything we had was lovely, especially my lamb stew which was so flavourful. I'm not normally a dessert person but shared baklava and ice cream and both were delicious. You can tell everything is cooked with love which made eating here even more enjoyable.

We visited during the Eat Out To Help out scheme, as we wanted to try somewhere new whilst places were generally half price. We had read online that the restaurant doesn't use flour, other than for things like the bread and some desserts, and so this was a good sign for Rosie, as a Coeliac. We ordered a meze platter each as they came with rice, salad, and bread/potatoes; one lamb & chicken kebab with 2 sides, and one veggie with 3 sides (see photo). Even at full price, these dishes are large and only came to ÂŁ14.95, so to say we got them for half that was amazing! The restaurant doesn't offer alcoholic drinks, but offers a corkage service at a fee. We only had Coca Cola, so can't comment on this. A small restaurant, which can only seat around 24 covers at once, but fantastic food and a cosy atmosphere. Definitely going back!

A new experience for us as we hadn’t tried Persian food before. We all ordered different dishes and each one was delicious. With two gluten-free diners and their needs were met with ease. The friendly staff were attentive and took great pride in the food they served. The food was filling and of high quality.

After reading the reviews and seeing its number 4 In hull, me and my partner decided to eat at this “hidden diamond” ... how they’re wrong. To start the restaurant was empty, which I didn’t mind, as we wanted a peaceful evening, however the owner only wanted to talk to us throughout the microwaved meal. Yes , microwaved.. me and my partner heard the microwave ping several times, which we both looked at each other in disbelief and almost embarrassment for the owner/chef. The owner watched over us eating throughout the whole meal, which was very unnerving. As we ate the mixed kebabs and meze, which looked okay, we knew something was not right as it took minutes to come out the kitchen and the chicken was super soft. When we cut the chicken it was raw in the centre. All of the meat was under cooked both the lamb and kofte kebab was both under cooked, no doubt they had just been warmed up in the mircowave as they were not char grilled at all or hot for that matter. The best part of the food on plate was grilled tomato. We was really polite in telling the staff it was very under cooked , which the owner didn’t want to admitt as he cooked the food himself. The Persian restaurant was so lucky that we was not environment health or I was a young child, as he could make someone seriously ill. I think that they need a kick up the backside for serving undercooked food! I mean how easy is it to make a good impression when there is only two people in the restaurant. The took £2 off the bill which was not worth it as it came to £33 anyways... laughable , we had a lucky escape as me and partner are fine touch wood.

You have targeted us to have a free meal, you made complain after finishing your meal. All restaurant are suffering due to curfew at 10 pm and that was the reason the restaurant was empty after 9 pm.
