We stumbled upon this place by chance, and glad we did. Friendly staff, nice location on the corner next to the river, and the food was really tasty. Best of all was the frozen margerita which was the best cocktail of several I had all weekend.

Excellent food--tasty, well-prepared, and served hot. Friendly service. Generous portion size. The duck confit taco starter is large enough to serve as a main course for someone with a lighter appetite. The tacos are actually flautas, which makes them less messy to eat. The beef burrito main course was a large serving. We would definitely eat here again if in... More

Food here was fantastic. Everybody left very full up and satisfied. Everyone had something different and enjoyed what they had. There is a good selection for vegetarians too and it is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food that you get as they don't skimp on portion size either. Well recommended.

Visited Cafe Des Amis on Friday night with old school friends (we are all 65+) The atmosphere was vibrant and very lively the decor was a mixture of fascinating and unusual. We shared two large platters of nachos one with beef and one for the non-meat eaters and is was really nice. I had the roasted vegetable tostada as a... More

It has been many years since I last visited Cafe des Amis so when friends suggested we meet for an early evening dinner before a theatre visit we jumped at the chance to sample the Mexican delights! As we sat down before 6pm we were able to take advantage of the half price cocktails (beer and wine also included) which... More

We visit Canterbury regularly and often walk past Cafe des Amis and on a couple of occasions have tried to eat there but it's always full which says a lot. So this time we booked, service and food were all good but if your not into spicy food give it a miss,we'll I suppose it is a Mexican

Great food in an easy going sociable environment - served by an ever chirpy waitress. Great value mexican cuisine. parking just opposite . Would definitely recommend.

Went here at a busy time on a Saturday evening and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We hadn't booked but they showed us to the bar and had a table for us within 5 minutes. Food was delicious and the staff could not be faulted. So friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we... More

The food was great and the service was quick. However, an hour after eating I was bent over in pain and spent all night and next day feeling unwell indeed. It may be the ingredients which caused it rather than safety of food. I would have given it 5 stars but will offer 2 on this occasion.

We haven't been to this restaurant for ages (I don't know why) but we weren't disappointed. We were seated quickly without a reservation and our drinks came promptly. The food was great, well presented and full of flavour. we will definitely return!
