We had an excellent evening on a busy Saturday night. The staff were friendly and service was very good, the menu had plenty of choice and was well presented and cooked perfectly, only suggestion we could make is maybe a cheeseboard option, would strongly recommend and we will return.

Delicious food from an interesting menu. Excellent quality produce, one of the tenderest fillet steaks I have ever tasted.

We held our wedding reception here and they did such a fabulous job for us. It's the perfect location to follow on from Canterbury registry office being a very short, picturesque walk along the river away. They were super relaxed to deal with and patient with our endless questions and last minute changes. On the day the staff couldn't have... More

I was very disappointed with my meal. This restaurant was supposed to be French inspired but there's nothing french about my scallop starter as it has seaweeds that you would normally get from a Chinese takeaway. I had the roast pork belly for my mains and the only thing I enjoyed on that plate was the pork crackling. I would have... More

This restaurant has a very interesting menu, something for everyone. All the food looks and tastes extremely good. The atmosphere is warm, the staff very pleasant and professional. The only downside is the price of the wine, the cheapest being £17:95 a bottle!

We have eaten here many times over the last five years and find the restaurant totally reliable for the quality of food and service. They have a varied menu of fish and meat dishes with a Mediterranean style and also very good pizzas, much of the food is prepared using a large wood fired oven. It is a good place... More

Our hosts had taken the upstairs room for about 40 people. We pre- booked our meals. Service was very efficient with the variety of choices being served promptly. The lamb was a little overdone (great pity) but I guess getting it pink for about 15 people all at once is a challenge. They ran a tab system for the bar... More

It was Sunday evening and we tried numerous well known upmarket country pubs in the villages around Canterbury, all of the saying 'kitchen closed ' on a Sunday evening, go figure. So I drive into Canterbury and noticed the Cafe du Soleil. I had eaten Sunday lunch here some years ago, so popped my head in the door Just to... More

Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall.

Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.
