My husband and I were very impressed with Chapman's and we will be returning. I bought a voucher of Groupon for the fish rondue which is where you cook the fish yourself. When we arrived we were shown to our table and gave our drinks order. We decided to have starters and we both had the salt and pepper squid... More

Warm welcome and no piped music - good start. Tables not crammed. Our v friendly and polite waitress (just starting there) knew nothing (eg where is their sauvignon from?) about the wines - why hadn't someone briefed her? Prawns recently unfrozen and utterly tasteless. Uninspiring sauce to go with. Moules huge and tasty but too much salt in the sauce... More

I was in Canterbury on business, so eating on my own. After a walk round the city centre, I settled on this place, because I'm keen on fish and I like independent restaurants. As it was mid-week, the restaurant wasn't busy, so service was quick. For starters, I ordered the salt and pepper squid with chilli mayo (£7.50). For the... More

We were very disappointed with our meal here last week as it didn't seem to be up to its high standard. Not sure if it was because we were there on a Wednesday evening and everyone else seem to be having the all you can eat mussels! My son ordered the white bait, the last time we came it seemed... I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and was not disappointed. I went yesterday with a friend for lunch. We both had the set lunch which was fantastic and very good value for money The staff were extremely friendly I would definitely recommend it.

Had lunch there with a Rondue (?) and it was excellant, the choice of fish and shellfish was very comprehensive, if you like fish this is the place, you wont be disappointed , do book as it is very popular , right near the West Gate.

Amazing seafood (and a good choice of lots of other items!). We visited on Friday night and really enjoyed ourselves with friends. I had the very good rock oysters, followed by half a lobster in thermadore sauce and a lovely rice pudding. The one gripe - they ran out of Curious Brew !

We went here with an offer for a fish rondue which turned out to be a hotplate on which you cooked your own fish and sliced vegetables. We also received fries and a great salad. It was really very good, service very friendly and helpful and the restaurant menu looks promising! Ideal too for the Marlowe theatre.
