Pub recommended by our friends and would certainly return. Staff were very friendly and service was very good. Between us we had starters of chicken wings, vol-au-vents & soup. Main dishes were lamb roast and chicken. Portions of food very good and no space for dessert. Lovely atmosphere inside. Location of pub makes it difficult to get parked but finally... More

I often come here for Sunday lunch and am never disappointed. The food and staff are excellent. The girls do a good job of running this place and we are always greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile. It is very homey and quite locally which I think is how a pub should be. They always have a lovely fire... More

We went fro Sunday lunch today, a party of four with our dog. The ambience of the pub is lovely and welcoming and the staff are very friendly. We had booked a table and were shown to a table just beside the fireplace. Our order was taken and our dog was given a treat and we were not disappointed when... More

We'd booked quite last minute for a family meal. Food was nice and main bar is very nice but we were sat in back room which was dated and tired. Staff friendly. Could just do with a bit of a facelift - even the menus themselves needed reprinting really.

I went to the pub for a 40th birthday in a back room. The room was a little dark but good for the function. The buffet food provided was of a good quality and variety. There was impressive was the choice and variety of beers and spirits, especially gin. It showed that some thought had gone into the drinks that... More

We called into this pub when we were visiting St.Albans last week. I have been to many pubs in St.Albans, but not been to this one before. This is a lovely old pub with character, and the sort of place I would love as my local ( but I live in Croxley Green!). The pub has an immediate welcoming feeling... More

A really old fashioned pubby pub, old fashioned, quirky and natural. Six of us had lunch there today, a sunny Saturday. The menu is straight forward and and more Albion than Continental. You can have anything from a snacky sandwich to a real Trenchermans Treat. There is a wide range of cask beers and some interesting wines too. Service is... More

I haven't been to this pub for many years having recently developed a liking for one nearby although both are some way from our home. As the other one is closed for refurb we thought we would try the Six Bells instead. What a revelation. We were greeted with a cheery hello and the staff were very friendly, helpful, attentive... We had booked a table of 11 for Saturday lunch. A chunky brief for many establishments, so one must set out prepared for the order to take some time. The menu consists of standard pub fare and there is a reasonable selection of drinks. The children's food was delivered early upon request and the wait was not bad. The adult... More

Great pub in the centre of St. Michaels village offering everything one would want from a "local". Can't believe it's not one unless the owners have requested so.
