What a great local pub , friendly staff , warm welcome , great selection of beers . The new food menu has now started and the new chef is great . A must try for informal dining option. I had Sunday lunch that was great quality and value .

Same old operation style as Caz's pervious 19 odd pubs in 15 years. Nice to see nothing much changes. Even the same live music gigs, same food menus and Sunday roast. This place feels like an old friend to me. The beer is good and the people really nice. Let's hope Caz sticks around longer then a year this time,... More

This local community pub has a new landlady since November 2016. She is working very hard, and succeeding, to arrest the decline of this great pub. The decor has improved no end, as has the atmosphere, the beer is in great condition and the food first class for pub food, actually better, than what you mostly find in a lot... More

Took my partner and her family, who were visiting from Brazil, to visit a 'typical English pub' for Sunday lunch. Was better than I could have expected, the pub was a delight in itself and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone.

It is nice friendly welcoming local pub with high quality real ales. Sunday roast was well above average quality in comparison with other local pubs. Our visitors from America thought it a very British experience they will remember fondly!

The chef is the same but the change of management has blown a breath of fresh air through the place ... Service and food offer really good! This is my local and Over the last 22 years it's had it's ups and downs ... Definitely now on an up and recommended! All it needs is a bit of a decor... More

.......but the same chef! I think this was British pub food at it's best. I had the fish and chips (sustainable pollock) beautifully cooked in beer batter with three times fried chips and mushy peas. I usually avoid mushy peas but these were cooked with leek and were delicious. A friend had ham and eggs and the eggs were perfectly... More

A short week ago I had the pleasure of Nathan and Vanessa's Sunday Roast at their neighbourhood pub, the Portland Arms. From the authentic, comfortable surroundings to the more than ample, delicious roast lamb served with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings, this was by far the best British pub experience! Truly a local establishment serving their friends and neighbours,... More

I recently spent 3 weeks in Britain and had the opportunity to sample a lot of pub fare and new British cuisine. The best meal by far was the pork roast with all the trimmings at the Portland arms. A huge Yorkshire pudding, roast stuffing veg and gravy. Super flavourful and more food than you could eat , served in... More

We came to eat here as it was convenient and did not expect to have such a lovely meal. The sweet potato chips were fabulous, the curry was good and spicy, and the waffle with ice cream and toffee sauce was delicious. Thank you lady chef. Your food is excellent!
