For non-families or families with older kids, this well located gastropub is everything you could want for a quality Sunday roast. We had excellent service from start to finish, the food is lovely and the beer selection decent. But if you have very young children this place is not catered for you, mainly because there are no changing facilities. Attempting... More

We were out looking for a pub to have a quick bite to eat and spotted the Cock Inn. The set menu was great value and my hubbie loved the fish and chips and I had one of the best fish dishes with mash that I have eaten in a long time. This pub is well worth a visit and... More

The food was excellent, especially my husband's scallops and steak. He said it was the best steak he had had in years (Prime is absolutely excellent too - last time we were there was for Sunday lunch two years ago). I had stone bass which was great. We were eating early before going to a film at The Odyssey so... More

If ever I arrange a Sunday lunch for family, I pick this place and this involves many miles being travelled for all to attend. Amazing roast and fantastic service each time I've been!

Chose this place for lunch from the reviews here and wasn't disappointed.... the menu was varied and unusual - not just the kind of food you can get anywhere, but interesting, flavouful and well presented. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy - adapting the offer to our needs and even reassuring us when... More

Went here yesterday for the first time for Sunday lunch. The trio of meat roast dinner was absolutely fabulous, one of the best I've had in a restaurant. A great place to start prior to heading off to The Odyssey. Will return.

I love this pub. Right in the middle of town with an excellent atmosphere, Love coming here in the afternoon for a drink to meet friends or in the evening. Can get a bit squashed because its quite small but it shows it is popular. The bar staff are helpful and friendly too. There is a large outdoor garden/patio area... More

Came ere Saturday night, had a quick pint before moving on to another's pub, service was excellent, polite and friendly. Pub had football showing and good atmosphere. One side is a boozer, other side is grub. Drinks prices are a bit pricey compared to competitors in the town. Despite the unfortunate name it's a decent pub.

There are lots of good pubs in St.Albans, and not just because it is the birthplace of CAMRA, the real ale campaigners. Mostly, it is because it lies just a full day's journey by horse-drawn vehicles from London. Nowadays, some 20-odd minutes on Thameslink will get you there from the capital. The Cock is not just a good pub, but... More

Dating back to the 16th Century, The Cock Inn remains one of the most popular pubs in St Albans. We are known for our great food, real ales and extensive wine list. In winter we have a roaring log fire whilst in summer we have a fantastic heated garden offering a little oasis of calm in the centre of St Albans.
